Problem connecting new install of windows to the internet

So after a ton of issues, I reinstall windows and reformat my HDD and finally get windows up and running (this is XP btw). My PC connects to the internet through an ethernet cord to a wireless router, and from what I understand, it should connect to the internet automatically. But for some reason it's not. Now I understand very little when it comes to networking, so I am completely lost. Do any of you guys have an idea of what's wrong? Thanks for any help.

Edit: Nvm, problem solved

Did you install the drivers for the ethernet adapter in the computer? XP does have a few drivers built in but most NIC cards need to have separate drivers installed before they will work.

I installed all the drivers that came on the disc that came with my mb (DFI nforce 4 infinity), and inittialy that fixed it, but after restarting my computer, im having the same problem.
