Problem connecting ide devices

When I connect the hard drives or cd-rom it will not detect it and just pause without going to the floppy.

Are you able to boot to windows? Are these extra hard drives ontop of one that is working already with an OS?

What is not detecting it? The Bios or the OS? What are your system's specs?

Double check the settings on the drives for master, slave and cable select. Be sure your ide cable is on correctly. On the motherboard connection the, red or colored edge of the ribbon goes to the number one pin. The colored edge goes towards the side of the power connection, on the drives.

I try disconecting everthing except the floppy and cd rom but it wont boot from floppy as it stop where it suppose to tell what the name of the cd-rom.
