Problem!! CD-Rom acting up.

I just bought a new HD and reloaded XP. It loaded fine but now when I boot up, I can hear the cdrom trying to read a disc even though I don't have one in it. Then the tray comes out. If I just shut it then it tries to read some more and then opens the tray again. XP will boot (slowly) and the the tray keeps coming out. It will not stay closed. I have no idea what the probelm is. I made sure that DMA mode was selected under XP. I have an ASUS A7V133. I have the HD on the Promise Ultra ATA-100 Primary and the CD-Rom on Primary IDE. I also have a DVD on the Ultra ATA-100 Secondary and a CDRW on the Secondary IDE. If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it Thanks!

Check your boot sequence in your bios. Make sure the CD drive isn't first. If it is, your computer is looking to boot from the CD instead of the hard drive.

I have tried that. I have bios set to not even boot from the cd. I have also tried moving it around in the ordering when it was set to boot from it.

Well, turns out the cdrom is bad. I got ahold of another cdrom and swapped them out and now it works. I don't know what caused it but that must be it. Thanks for the responses.
