Problem booting up new system

Here's the specs first of all:

K7S5A mobo
AMD XP1800+ chip
300watt power supply
ATI Radeon 7500
Crucial DDR 256MB PC2100
Maxtor HD
Creative 8x CD-ROM
Standard floppy disk

The CD-ROM and HD are both temporary ones that I took from an old computer.

So here's the problem. I have everything installed and connected, and when I turn the computer on, all fans turn on, cd-rom reads and lights up, floppy reads and lights up and LED's on front of case light up too. However, I can't get the video to show up, I've tried two different monitors, and I've tried pushing the card in as far as I can, and removing it quite a few times and replacing it back in there. Nuthing seems to be working. I'm also not getting any sorta beeps when I power it on. Someone suggested that I reset CMOS, and I did that and the only difference that made is that the CD-ROM started working when before it wasn't. However, still no video. I have tried a few options that people suggested but nuthing seems to work. Just so you know, I ordered it as a barebone system, so the mobo came pre-installed in the case with the power supply, so I did not install either of those. The rest I installed on my own. If the HD was dead, would that make a difference, or could any of the cabling be causing a problem? I am all out of ideas and every idea that people have been suggesting hasn't worked. Please help.

Your probably going to have to start with the basics. Try it with just the cpu, hsf, ram and videocard. Disconnect everything else.

I have experienced this with my brother's computer. Drove me crazy! I cleared the CMOS and it worked a charm. I wouls suggest this, all you have to do is switch the jumper (it should be around the PCI slots on it's own) to reset. This should work for ya.

Good Luck

It appears that my reading skills are not crap! Ok, if you have another system around, I would try removing the Hard Drive and Graphics card and putting them in the other system to see if the work there. If not, I would consider contacting the manufacturer/supplier.

Good Luck

Oops, excuse that blank post, accidentally hit enter after I typed in my username.

Back to my problem. I've tried clearing CMOS a few times to no avail. The system still powers on, and all fans start spinning but I get no beeps. I tried booting it with just the RAM and the video card, but it didn't work. I am fairly positive that the RAM should be compatible as I've read a few reviews of people using the same RAM with the same mobo. I just don't know if this is a video card problem, or a mobo problem, if it was just the video card, would I get beeps? If I don't get any beeps, does that mean it's a mobo problem? I'm confused.

I would think, assuming everything is hooked up right, that it's either the motherboard or the Radeon 7500 itself. When I built the computer before this one years ago with a celeron 300a oc'd to 466 and an Abit BH6 motherboard and a voodoo3 3000 video card I had the SAME problem. I kept putting the card in and out of the damn slot and trying it over and over and finally it worked. Well.. 3 months later I took the card out and put it in again. Doh.... I forgot!!! No more monitor on! Anyhow... I rma'd the board and the video card worked fine then (of course the PS/2 for the keyboard didn't want to work once in 3 boots.... no more Abit boards for me). Anyhow... test the video card on another computer. If it works fine... I would think it's the mainboard. But, for the hell of it... loan another stick of ram from someone and test that one..... may also be the ram. Good luck!
