Hey guys, so i put together a new pc (see signature) and aside from this problem ill describe everything seems ok. also, im running Vista Ultimate x64.

basically i have trouble booting after long periods of the pc being off. im on the pc right now if i were to shutdown wait for the thing to power off and then turn it back on everything would be fine. if i were to simply do a restart from windows everything would be fine. for the past 2 nights ive been shutting down when i go to bed, sleep for ~8-9 hours. when i wake up and try to turn it on, it starts up, the LEDs on the front light up things start spinning then all of a sudden (side note, i already ahve my monitor on so to gfive u an idea of how long it begins booting for, the monitor doesnt get a signal yet) it turns off, stays off for maybe 2-3 seconds and then tries again on its own. if i let it do that a handful of times it finally stays on a boots into windows.

the first time this happened i got an error that read "cmos checksum error - defaults loaded" and had a list of options. i got around that and a guy i know told me to reset my cmos. so i shutdown, unplugged, removed the battery on the mobo for a minute put it back on, replugged and booted, there was no error, and there was no error also this morning after it being off all night and after it having the afformentioned trouble starting up.

so thats it, this is the problem im having. otherwise vista is working great everything else seems to work great. the only other issue is that my "sold as" 4-4-4-12 RAM seems to not want to work at 4-4-4-12 and only at 5-5-5-12.

thanks in advance guys.

Sounds like a bad CMOS battery.
Also did you connect CPU power connector to mobo? What is your PSU?

Did you set the memory voltage to the correct level ? I think the memory you are using (Patriot extreme) is non Jedec standard and therefore will not run properly at the default voltage of 1.8V (Jedec standard).

i dunno about the cpu power connector to mobo because i didnt assemble it. it was assembled by NCIX.com, the memory voltage needs to be at 2.2v? thats the # on the box they came in.

Don't know, open case and you'll see a round batterry about size of a quarter and 3 quarters thick.
