Problem: Asian Male marries a White Female

I think some hollywood producers have "yellow fever". That's why they depict asian males in a negative light & almost non-existant. However, I've seen many foreign films where us Americans are depicted as fools as well. That's just how the world works.

However, it seems like my friends and I notice that when one of us reach a cap or stop in advancement, it's always seems to me a white male that "keeps us down." I guess sort of how black people feel when they say "the man" keeps us down. Difference is we don't let that stop us, we'll just move elsewhere or start our own thing =P.

Keyword is "seems". You just claimed in your other post that asian males are far more likely to be successful and now you are saying the white man is trying to keep you down 😕. At least when black people make this argument they kinda have the statistics of them being in the lower income brackets to support them.

I think white people generally make positive racial stereotypes about asians. Some white people think asians are automatically straight A students and exceptionally smart, whereas blacks might be thought of negatively. I would imagine these more positive stereotypes would lead to many white employers/bosses wanting asian employess over others.

Could you give more details of the times you or your friends have been held down by a white because your asian?

LoL, I guess in the whole view of things, Asian males and black women seem to come up less and usually ignored in the grand scheme of interracials. I mean the whole blacks on blondes, more white women are going for black just cause, even though that black guy has a bigger dick isn't really true and mostly apply to AFRICAN born(non us for you dumasses) males. White women have an obsession for black guys cause parents suppress them and human nature is to go against the grain. White guys like asian women due to their fascination to the asian culture and Asian women are more likely to provide security which white males usually long for, something which white women usually don't provide. Also, while I wouldn't say that asian males are totally ignored, I say there are less interest in general, I have only seen few women who prefer to date only asians as I have others who prefer certain ethnicity, guess we just got the shaft in this contest. Although in terms of racial definition, the term ASIAN usually refers to chinese/Korean/japanese males, I'm filipino, although called Asian, I prefer the PACIFIC ISLANDER term due to it being more accurate.

Sad but true, alot of hot asian women wouldn't mind dating a white guy than a hot white girl to an asian guy, its due to the asian race being more open in general and have some fascination to the white race as the color white is viewed as beautiful compared to darker colors here in the asian countries, also western culture influences from movies and such, asian women have this thing for blue eyes. Oh well, Guess I'll go date a white girl to even things out abit. Also White women prefer tall guys which I can't really say all too common in asian background.

By "seems" I mean this. My friend is an investment banker at one of the bulge bracket firms. He is one helluva superstar. However, his caucasian counterparts, some of whom are quite frankly morons (I personally know a couple of them), are the ones being promoted. All the VPs and Managing Directors are naturally caucasian. A couple of Asian ex-bulge bracket bankers are recruiting him to their smaller firms, explaining to him that the reason why they left the bulge-bracket is that they were outrightly discriminated against.

Even at the college level, one of my white roommates told me during the fraternity rush meetings that he wanted one of his buddies to be in the frat. However, the rush committee told him that they had filled their quotas for Asians for that quarter (it was said not quite that nicely).

Even at my CPA firm, a national mid-tier firm, it seems like very few Asian males get promoted. There are tons of Asian females in senior and managing positions, but there seems to be a void in Asian males.

well yea, seen as more brought up to be like a home maker type wife... less womens lib.. atleast relatively since the parents were probably much less free than a white parent of the same gen would have been.

sorta, not entirely. we just dind't have the numbers. our civil rights came along with the blacks civil rights. course actually we lagged. what people don't know is that far after blacks got citizenship and voting, asians could have neither for a long time after, with law after law passed against their entrance or eligibility for citizenship.

Precisely my point. But Asians in general don't tend to "rebel" or demand things. I mean look at China; 1 billion people living under a communist regime, yet they are content. Look at Asian history; the people don't tend to "rise up" against power.

well no they aren't content, they are just mostly just so poor or were ..that it wasn't on the radar. freedom means little when you're just trying not to starve or be invaded. you must reach a certain level of overall comfort before theres a cry for more freedom and such. and history doesn't show anything different from anyone else really. europe and the rest were not democratic until recently.

what it is is, in both the media industry and the film industry... who is running the show? Who runs the film companies, who decides who sits in the anchor seat? who writes the scripts, from low budget films to big screen ones, who are the majority of guys that come out of college as 'writers'? who approves the screenplays and signs off a coupla million dollars to get a film produced... many many of these jobs are occupied by caucasian dudes... they call it as they like it, long story short.

In Hollywood, in any movie with 'colored' love you'll rarely see it that the woman is the 'white' one and the male love interest is the 'colored' character.

The scripts and casting houses, producers, filmmakers, directors make it this way. I woul'dn't say purposely, but more naturaly since they run the show.

I remember a few years ago watching a movie with George Clooney and J-Lo as the love interest, everything from how they led to the point where they got it on made me say wait a sec.... you expect me to believe this?

You put an Asian to represent the Asian face in MTV Real World... it's likely gonna be a chick. You put a Asian guy... fine... but guess what, he's gonna be gaaaay isn't he? Not that being gay itself has anything wrong with it.

Hate to pick on one show, but the Margaret Cho show, an Asian show, wasn't written with Asian experiences/input as much to the extent as say the current George Lopez show has input from their own people, thereby making a show that the Spanish population can better connect with instead of some kind of hollowed out 'ethnic' show.

African Americans have made great strides in film and entertainment media the last 10-15 years. They have taken spots in directing, writing, production houses, etc. where they can pump what they want, how they want a lot better than they used to, and Asians simply need to get to that stage.

OK I see your point. I guess it's just hard for me to believe someone would be discriminated against because they are perceived to be an overachiever, it just seems to make no sense to not promote the most qualified individual to me.

I think a lot of white guys like asian girls because they are "exotic" to them, this means looks and culture. Being typically small and thin is probably a plus to most. I think the "submissive" thing works two ways. White women might think of asian men as more strict and controlling like the korean guy portrayed in 'Lost'. This is not appealing after the whole womens lib thing. But the submissive asian female is appealing to white males, actually all males.

Abc hit the nail on the head with regards to asians on tv. White males are the ones calling all the shots so its not that surprising that a lot of asian chicks will be in films/tv while the males are left out. Do you honestly think that if asian males dominated hollywood production/directing that you would see a lot of white males together with asian females? Instead you would see asian males with blondes. Or if black women wrote and produced everything do you think you would ever see a black man with some hot blonde? I doubt it.
