Problem accessing archived thread

I get this error when I click on a thread I get from a search:

Forum Error
An error has occurred. If you wish to notify the administrator please click here.
To go back to the main forum page please click here.

ERROR:

An error occurred while evaluating the expression:

FTVAR_CUSTOMTEXTTMP = ReplaceNoCase(FTVAR_CUSTOMTEXTTMP, vchemoticonreplace, vchemoticonstring, "All")

Error near line 6, column 8.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Error resolving parameter FTVAR_CUSTOMTEXTTMP

ColdFusion was unable to determine the value of the parameter. This problem is very likely due to the fact that either:

You have misspelled the parameter name, or
You have not specified a QUERY attribute for a CFOUTPUT, CFMAIL, or CFTABLE tag.

The error occurred while processing an element with a general identifier of (CFSET), occupying document position (6:2) to (6:111).

----------------------------

I am running Win2k and IE5.5

Any ideas?

You've got about half of the report 🙂 But, thanks. How about a url to where the error was caused 🙂 Or we can't reproduce it.

I was getting that error too. Let me see if I can dig up the URL of the message that was giving that error.

Edit: Ok, here's a link to one page that's giving me the following error...

Edit #2: I'm not a subscriber, if that matters, and I get the error only when attempting to pull up archived messages - while current messages load just fine.

If there is supposed to be more of the error message then it's not being displayed. I got all there was and I just repeated it exactly right here http://forums.anandtech.com/arcmessageview.cfm?catid=34&threadid=588511&highlight_key=y&keyword1=msvcrt%2Edll.

The archived message, on which I clicked, that produced this error message was dated 10/7/2001. However any of the messages that were part of the search results produce the same message.

I have had this problem before and I have seen it reported here some time back.

Same here. Seems to work OK if I'm not logged in but when I log in it doesn't. Good call Insomniac.

Any solutions?

But I guess it doesn't really matter now; I can access the archives and that was my goal.

I'd try deleting any anandtech cookies (individual files) in IE or deleting the anandtech lines in Netscape/Mozilla (cookies.txt). I had a different problem and that ended up working.

Well, since I'm still accessing all online content with "stone knives and bear skins", I'll have to stick with Standard mode so my page requests will load before they get archived 🙂

I'll just logout to do my searches.

Seen, and replicated it actually happens when you have Standard mode on, and not enhanced.

Yeah, that's done it. I'll just stick to enhanced mode then. Perhaps you could stick a note in the customize settings page to let people know about the issue, at least until the software gets updated.

I tried using the same search parameters as before, logged in, and in non-enhanced mode (standard, no icons).....and it worked fine! Looks like you fixed it Zuni, good work and thanks!

This place just keeps getting better and better!
