I have a problem when installing memory into a asus a7v8x-x.
With one stick of 512mb pc3200, no problem.
The problem comes when I install a second one, it causes major instablility, video problems, and power loss ect. Even with the speed set to 333 in bios, I still have the same problem.

Im running an athlon xp 2800+
400w psu
radeon 9600 pro

Hello and Welcome to AnandTech forums ! :)

from asus ..DDR400 Support

DDR400 (PC3200), the latest and fastest DDR memory standard, supports bandwidth up to 3.2GB/s to provide enhanced system performance. (Note: PC3200 Max. to 2 banks only; PC2700 Max. to 4 banks only)
3200 only one stick at 3200 speed..2700 can be a pr of sticks of 2700 and up ram..all 3 slots populated ..on the a7v8x-x I'd had had serious issues..as always..ymmv
