This is the cheapest I've seen a RETAIL, 5900XT from NewEgg.
Link

The memory may not be as fast (probably 2.8ns) and the core is only 390, but these still do well.
This is probably very comparable to the EVGA 5900SE that was tested here

It comes with a decent bundle, too (4 full games): Ghost Recon, Comanche 4, Racing Sim 3 and MotoGP.

Darn it. I was gonna post this first, but couldn't get to forums.anandtech.com or www.anandtech.com until right now. Don't know what was wrong since I could get to other web sites, but anything Anandtech would come up "page not found, check your browser settings," yada yada yada...

Besides the low price, FREE SHIPPING to sweeten the deal.

This is a HotDeal? because you can do a mild overclock and get IMO the best performing card priced below the normal 5900. It is only slower in clock/memory speed and has the full feature set. I think that other cards such as the Radeon 9800SE is missing something (memory bandwidth/bitwidth? someone correct me if I'm wrong). I'd take the 5900XT over the 9600XT/5700u any day.

... though I'm still peeved at XFX for selling the 5900XT as a regular 5900 a few months ago. I got the exact same card in a box that was missing the letters "XT." Newegg let me return it without a restocking fee, but I had to pay for return shipping. DAMN YOU, XFX!!! Don't know if they ever admitted to anything - was a long thread at their own forums from pissed off people who had bought what was advertised as a normal 5900.

I had just cancelled my 9600xt order at Zip Zoom for this one. I thought it would be the better deal.

hot deal, worth the buck, but i not gonna upgrade my crappy card just yet, gonna wait it out..

probably when prices drop, since tech gets obsolete in a few months, so in a few months, i can get a pretty decent card for cheap, im not into crazy gfz inteseive games, however i do own a few, but my radeon7000 can still run them, with lots of lag, of course, but its bearable. just a few months of waiting is fine for me :)

Definitely. It's only an XT, but boy, $160 is a hot price for the performance you get.

Ordered this Thursday. Shipped from NJ on Friday. Should receive on Tuesday or Wed. Upgrading/replacing TI4200 refurb from Newegg (1 year old) that is flaking out (artifacts, etc) right now. Should be a nice upgrade...especially since it's NEW with a warranty! :)

for a few bucks more I picked up the Chaintech FX5900 at GameVE. Now, I know that GameVE has a bad rep but I had no problems with my transaction, I love my 5900.

The FX5900 is faster than the XT/SE cards.

Cost at GameVE was 183, I think shipping was free, came to about $200 for me with Ca tax.

Looks like Newegg removed it from the website. It went OOS on Friday and they never indicated an estimated instock date.

I've seen this happen before. It may show up again, but probably in very limited quantities. Kudos to everyone who got one while they lasted. It was cheaper than the 5700 ultra from the same manufacturer.

farstar, I did the same thing today. The 5900's are no longer available, and a Pricewatch search brings up only the Chaintech at GameVE, and they are also the only vendor offering it for under $200. These cards are geting hard to find and I'm glad I could get one before having to settle for an XT card.

Ghost Recon & Commanche 4 are both great games, albeit a bit older. They'll run blazing fast on this card.

Installed and running on my Dell 3.2GHz P4 with 512Megs PC3200 running Dual Channel. 53.03 drivers set to best performance, but no external tweaks.

3DMark2001SE: 15,729

3DMark2003: 5,700

The Dell can't be optimized much, but I may be able to tweak the card (what's the best current tweaker?) to get a bit more...:)

GameVE sunsabyches !!!! Get this .... I receive an email today after ordering the Chaintech card on Monday. At that time it was listed as in stock for $183. The email states that the card is no longer available (website now shows it as back order) and they are offering an MSI 5900XT (!!!) as a replacement for $195 !!!! What a freakin bait -n- switch ripoff !!! I'm ticked off and really wanted the 5900 and its 2.2 RAM, not some crappy 2.8 RAM card ... anyone have ANYPLACE selling a 5900 ???

Edit: Newegg refurbs showed a number of 5900 cards, most out of stock in a day. I did find an MSI 5900 in stock for $200 and bought it. I'm not an Nvidia fanboi, I simply have read a lot of problems with my particular AOpen NF2 board and ATI cards in the tech forum.
