Probably a stupid videocard picking question (6950 Twinfrozr 2 vs 3)

I've really enjoyed my coolrunning and stable MSI 8800GT, so I would like to stick with MSI.

I'm picking now between the MSI 6950 Twin Frozr II and III. The 3 seems faster, but sounds like it might be louder and hotter too. I kinda dislike loudness in parts. I am not sure if the loudness and heat is worth it for the performance increase. However, it also looks like the 3 is less expensive now than the 2. Though the 2 comes with Dirt 3.

when asking for gpu upgrade advice ALWAYS list all your specs including res if you are not going to use a sig.

The power stages are better in the III than the II. Probably won't make much of a difference, except if you plan on pushing voltage/clocks to the max. It's only $20.00. I would get the III/PE

Wow the question got stupidererer overnight, amazon raised the price alot 😛!

Timma, I'm a little scared of Gigabyte after my first 8800gt which was gigabyte. It crashed all over the place, when I RMAed it they just gave back all my money instead of trying to get me a new part =p

Pretty much this. The 3 has slightly better cooling and more power phases....

You should be fine with either one though.

Also, i have a msi lightning gtx 580 with twin frozr 3 and the cooler is excellent. Even at 70% fanspeed its not that loud, while the 6970 reference fan sounds like a wind tunnel.

If you do get the 3 you won't be disappointed with the twin frozr 3. Just make your case has good ventilation.
