Prob with K7T Pro2-A Board

hi, i seem to have a problem with this board i just got. my hard drive is an IBM 75gxp ata 100 30gb and that is set as master and the slave is a WD ata66 13.6 gb. Why does the system bog down so much when i access the drive, like install programs and stuff?? when im installing a program and listening to winamp at the same time, the MP3 starts to pause with a screech and then contiue later when activity on HD is lower. Could this be a defective mobo?? i know the hard drive is as fast as it gets... i also have a 750 tbird oced to 1 gig, 384 pc133 cas2 ram, AIW radeon and a santa cruz sound card and a netgear NIC. whats wrong?? help!

BTW; this is under both win2k and windows me, i still have problems. all fresh install with latest 4in1 4.25.

I would Seperate the WD drive, I beleive this is bogging down your ata 100
WD drives don't like company of other makers, in my experience.

tried that, didnt help. i did fix the prob in winME, i had to enable DMA on the HD. but in win2k, i click UDMA if available, but it still stays PIO mode, which is what is causing all this slowdown. how can i fix in win2k??
