Private Messages "quota" limits

While making final arrangements on a For Sale deal, I got a "you've exceeded your private message quota" of 50. Then the system told me that I had 109 PMs and wouldn't let me reply until I deleted below 50. After searching the forum, I couldn't find any info on this limit but 50 is way to small for PM's if you are doing any sort of active trading. Is this a new "feature" or did it just go bonkers? Any one else hit this problem tonight?

Goto Forum Issues.

The limit in your history folder is 50.

I'm sure that you'll find a lot of your PMs quite irrelevant... I have a bunch of PMs that just say "BUMP" - wtf is up w/ that?! Hehe, just search for what is relevant and what is not - what you need and what you don't, and slowly start to organize your box... you'll have room in no time

If you open the messages you can delete them one at a time - could be time consuming if you have a lot of them.

I just found it strange that I suddenly exceeded my 50 limit when I had 109 in my history.
