Coming from a forum where the demise of Tesla motors was 'called', I wouldn't give too much value to any additional commentary on automobiles,..

Say, the duct tape on your armchair has worn off again, go on and replace it before the foam starts sticking to your polyester sweater again.

I may or may not know someone personally who did that... but it was with an older gen Prius. He or she had to keep the gas floored with no passengers and very little cargo to slowly make the climb from ~110 km/h to 135 km/h.
 
Despite on the usual Prius complaints, I'll add in the blind spots. I've driven a Prius a few times and the blind spots are enormous. Combine the rest of the valid complaints with the blind spots and I stay well away from Pree-i on my motorcycle.

I loved my M3's mirrors, heated, auto dimming, and they were Euro-spec (no "objects in the mirror may be closer than they appear"). I could see 3 lanes left and right with them and no blind spots doing it.

A Smart Fortwo will do 75mph on the highway, but I wouldn't recommend it.
Acceleration is a more important performance figure than top speed.

The Prius only has the same power and torque as a Yaris. However, the Prius is about 500lbs heavier.It's not geared for pickup either. Makes passing at highway speeds a bit hairy.
 
Around here, I am mostly getting cut off by Dodge Rams. Other trucks also seem to be driving very aggressive. Left lane cruisers usually have vanity plates, Pennsylvania, Indiana, or Illinois tags, assuming they are not local. Pretty much every California plate I have seen here is also in the left lane getting passed multiple times on the right. Kentucky drivers get the picture and get right after being passed just once in that lane, in my experience. (They also have a lot more "keep right except to pass" signs than most states I drive through.

Prius drivers are pretty good around here, as long as they don't have a vanity plate.

Try merging back onto the 400 just outside Barrie from the shoulder in the middle of the summer -- with a car blocking the shoulder directly in front of you...

IME, the side mirrors don't allow anything to be seen when they're that close. Instead, the side mirrors turn into rounded rectangles of pure glare. Only raised trucks and SUVs, driving way too close to stop if I needed to quickly and heavily put on the brakes, ever seem to be a problem, though.

I have to go with Nissan drivers as the worst, like a few others. They seem to comprise the majority of:
1. Double parking (not unsafe, but makes me want to be a vandal)
2. 2-footed driving (brake lights are randomly on, so not a useful indicator of needing to slow down or not, plus the obvious WTF of it)
3. Riding the brakes (if they only use 1 foot)
4. 'Getting stuck' while changing lanes, or entering traffic, near a light, instead of changing lanes in advance of needing to be in the far left or far right; or if entering traffic, waiting for a decent opportunity; and thus blocking multiple lanes of traffic, sometimes including from the oncoming lanes. For the most part, it seems those people are either really old, or driving a small to medium Nissan.
 
Prius drivers aren't too bad IMO. They're driving a car which really has very little point, but besides that it's not too bad. SUV drivers are the worst. Either they "just know" that bigger cars are safer, or they're trying to compensate for something by buying a bigger car, but whatever the reason they drive like a blind man who's inhaled mace.
 
I haven't had much issue with Prius drivers; if anything they're too polite and passive. German coupes and American pick-ups have the worst drivers.

If you can't pass properly and easily in a Prius, then you're doing it wrong. The current Prius has more than enough acceleration for regular highway driving and passing in North America, unless everyone on the road is already at 80 mph.

What I notice in general regarding Prius drivers, is they will stay on the green light forever and drive off very slowly. Also they would drive 35mph on a 55mph expressway etc.

They definitely lumber along and hold up traffic.

Is this because the Prius has a very underpowered engine or is it because you have to be real gentle on the car in order to save gas?

Why did you get rid of it? Those are well handling automobiles.

there are dashboards in the car that tell you what your mpg is vis a vis how fast you are accelerating.

so basically when you step on the gas the car tells you "hey asshole, you're doing a bad job at managing your MPG"

Divorce and left with two cars, my 2006 M3 and 2012 Mazda 3. The smart choice was to sell the M3 as I had about $10k in equity and the Mazda 3 was still upside down being so new.

My car costs per month are hundreds for dollars less.

If I had the space for the other car I would have kept them both, but I don't have any covered parking here.
