Screw international standards. Screw 'em. I wanted to use much more colorful phrases there but I don't want to be banned. POWs are just that. Prisoners of war. I'm tired of all you bleeding hearts crying for an unfair requirement of our military. People die in war. People suffer in war. That will never change. If our troops had been captured, I'm sure the opposition's internet representatives would be up in arms over the treatment American troops received(sarcasm for those not bright enough to grasp it). We are no better than the rest of the world. It's about time we leveled the playing field. I will admit that unneccessary torture is inhumane. However, we need to scare the hell out of these bastards. And if this is the closest our country will allow, then so be it.

Being in the military is not necessarily a 'free pass' to commit whatever acts you wish to perform. If you act outside of a given set of guidelines, then expect criticism in return.

You're expected to be a decent human being, no matter what your occupation may be.

Want to see torture ? Go to the same link above and download some of the " many " beheading videos on that site. That torture. That's murder. These photos are not torture. They are captured fighters and were being treated as such.

What is the context of these pictures? This could very well be after a firefight, and not a prison, and therefore very likely that combatents would be bloodied from the fight, and are in the process of being taken prisoner.

Back on topic, there's really not much proven by these pictures. Unless there's more than hasn't been released I don't see any conclusive evidense that some mistreatment was taking place. There's a man with blood who for all we know could have hit his head, or received it from a fire fight, and as a result he surrendered. From the looks of it, American's sometimes receive similar or even more harsh treatment when being tackled to the ground and arrested by police officers.

For all in the military, It was at one time. But just as in our civilian population, there has been subversive element that has been able to conform just enough to make the cut.

I believe that this is the product of the tone set by those that had the power to shape our country between
1960 and 2000.

Gaard, I don't know about you, but with all the inflammatory rhetoric flying around the information outlets these days, I won't pass judgment on those that serve in our military until I hear their side of the story.

But if it helps you sleep at night, by all means go ahead and feel embarrassment and proclaim it in public, and dishonor them, the vast majority (above 99%) that do serve honorably.
