I'm not sure if he's necessarily writing from a libertarian viewpoint, but its certainly taking a realistic/critical perspective. (not saying I think he has a 100% handle on the truth)

check this post editorial also. Has the Seem over all tone

A Wretched New Picture Of America

This is The point that Angers me.

There seems To be more people Outraged over The release of the pictures and the effect it will have on our reputation, rather than The fact that it happened. Listen To Rush the Last three days, That is all his show has been. Downplaying this.

The first article is a bit over the top with its sarcasm, but is generally on point. I think Karpinski is a scape goat for someone higher up. If she were actually culpable, I"d think she'd receive more than a reprimand.

Americans SHOULD be worried about our reputation. We are destroying our credibility with other nations with this Iraq excursion and this little episode.

But, yes, the torture shouldn't have happened. These rules for interrogation need to be revisited.

Wrong...they're upset with how this will affect our success in Iraq and the safety of our troops...things worth being concerned over, imo.

Our ultimate Success is the Most important thing, agreed, But Other things have been done that hinder our ultimate success.

This incident needs to be stoped, if we value or morals as a nation.

That's the reason they shouldn't have been released in such a grandiose manner and at this time. Now this is perceived as "something Americans do" and not just random heinous war crimes that unfortunatly tend to mark every side in an engagement. It's my belief that they were released thusly to undermine our efforts in Iraq as well as the safety of our troops by obtuse, liberal media execs solely focussed on the elections in November. Play naiive if you choose, but I choose to question their motives. When's the last time ABC or CBS or any channel ran success stories in Iraq during prime time? We'd all love to see them, but they prefer to show the rare attrocities. Screw them.

By that same argument we should not have released the pictures of the 4 contractors being strung up in Iraq as it just inflamed passions and led the government to take rash actions.

The Liberal Media was a myth Created To Get Weak minded Fools on The Right attached to the Media Outlets the Republican Party Chooses for them to boost revenue for Fox and To Keep that part of the idiot Base In line. Real People That Can Think Know that Their are Biases In All Media Reports based On journalistic and Editor Direct Interaction In the Story, Yet Real Journalists and Editors Attempt to Pull away From A story as much as possible. When the line between Editorial and reporting are Blurred as much as they are within the perceived right wing "Alternative" media outlets, They Have No footwork to stand on when they Cry "Bias" when Something is reported that doesnt agree with their Belief structure or ideology.

A REAL journalist Reports the Story Reguardless as Who It Hurts in a open Soceity, The purpose of this is to Keep the government and people in Check.

Would you rather Woodward back in the 70's Keep Quiet about watergate as it "Could Destablize the american country as a whole". No Because We are Americans and We can overcome any obstacle and We as a people always succeed. It our Nature.

We wont Succeed when we forget what being an american is all about.

And this incident Was UN-AMERICAN.

Where's the Muslim outrage over that action? There is none. The Muslim world is full of hypocrits. Most American's are outraged by these pictures, by contrast most Muslims are not outraged by by the contractor photos.

? well, its the US that did these things (not "American's" [sic]), so we in the US should be outraged[]. the actions of these fools make the US look like hypocrits (the sadist overthrowing the sadist in the name of liberty).

In your world, though, the Muslim world is full of hypocrits because they should be more outraged by these photos - how is this lack of outrage hypocritical, I just don't understand wtf you are saying. if there's something I'm missing, make it plain. peace

EDIT: italics off EDIT2: delete "because" - not what I meant to say.

We invaded Iraq, to them it was getting even at people who were occupying a nation, that's why there is no outrage in the Muslim world IMO, I mean, those contractors were pretty much hired mercenaries. By that same token there is outrage in America for the same reason, we invaded and occupied a nation on the pretense that we were "liberating" the Iraqis from the tyrannical and sadistic methods of Saddam, and now we are employing those same methods. Even if it was one instance, it was one instance too many. We like to call ourselves the moral authority of the world, this proves that we too are flawed and that outrages a lot of people.

Taken out of context you found the real problem. It outrages a lot of people that we are flawed...
