Selling your old pc is not illegal. Selling the image of the Microsoft Windows Operating System installed on your old pc is. Especially when you sell tens of thousands of copies of it.
Microsoft begs to differ. When you "refurbish" a used PC (Microsoft licensed refurbisher), you are required to invalidate the previous (original) license key sticker, and PURCHASE a NEW Windows license for the refurbished PC.Except these had Windows on them whrn they were new. Companies wipe drives when lease is up. So it is fully licenced legally.

You are also ONLY allowed to provide a "restore" disc, IF YOU OBTAIN A LEGAL ONE DIRECT FROM THE PC MFG.
