Prison Break tonight..

How did Michael know that wasn't the real guy he was looking for by asking him what kind of inhaler/asthma medicine he used? Was it a made up answer, or what?

Yeah. The option he chose (or all of them) were not correct.

Using common psychology, he presented three choices. Since he did this without earlier mischievous pretenses, he assumed it was a general inquiry. So when he was asked for an answer, the impostor assumed they were all medications.

the first one choice Michael mentioned, Albuterol, is indeed an inhaler for asthmatics. the third choice, Prednisone can be used by asthmatics in severe cases, and I don't think it's an inhaler (not sure about this). essentially, the imposter chose the wrong answer.
