Prioritizing LAN over WLAN?

I have wireless and wired network at home, and my laptop supports both. Obviously when it's hooked up via ethernet I want my laptop to use the LAN (especially during file transfers) but it seems to be random.

Is there a way to prioritize LAN over WLAN?

Not exactly sure if there is another way but when you are wired, why don't you just right-click on the wireless icon in the systray and disable the device? Seems easy enough...

Unfortunately I'm connecting/disconnecting from LAN multiple times a day that manually disabling the wireless adaptor is a nuisance.

I'm almost positive that Windows 2000 and Windows XP will always use LAN if available; You could also check your BIOS, as some computers have that option.

Nope, I constantly monitor my network connections and it's really obvious when transferring a 1GB file takes 30 minutes that it's using WLAN despite active LAN connection.

Nothing in BIOS helps . . .

if i was transferring a 1gb file i'd surely take the 2 seconds to disable the wlan and then move the file, but that's just me.
