Printing Pics from Digital Camera??

Hi,

I just got a digital camera (Canon S100 2.1 Megapixel). The question I have is simple...What's the best way of getting actual snapshots of the digital images? Of course, I mean besides printing them myself on an inkjet printer.

Do I take the compactflash card to a photo developing place and they will be able to print them using the DPOF printing or do I have to burn the JPEG images to a CDR and then take this to a photo place to get print outs. What's the cheaper option?

Any hints would be appreciated.

Thanks,

BJ

i am wondering too, thinking bout buying a digital camera too, howmuch would it cost to have them printed into like regular photos?

hey guys check out either shutterfly or ofoto online printing services where they give you 25 prints for free when you register. The services are excellent. When I print some of my vacation photos using my Kodak DC290. The pix were incredible.

Here's another vote for Shutterfly and Ofoto. I've gotten over 200 photos from them collectively (all free, only had to pay shipping and handling). Keep your eyes out for the codes for free prints. I have some at my site under the Consumers section, but they probably all expired. Very good stuff...

I am on my 4th digital camera. I take 100s of pictures on trips abroad, at festivals, gatherings, reunions, etc. I rarely ever print any. One of the main purposes of digitals is to avoid hard copy.

I put all my pictures on CDRs along with a run-time slide viewer. Then I send copies of that CDR to anyone that wants it.

I just finished burning 21 copies of 372 picures taken at a 4-day class reunion, and mailed all out to friends. They see them bigger and better than any printer can produce.

The CDR idea sounds good, but what "runtime" slide viewer are you talking about?

Which program does this?

I have a proggie called flipalbum where you can burn it to cdr's and it just flip like an album. PM me if anyone wanted.

I bumped into a list of about 8 online digital image developers once. I think Ofoto was one of them. Kodak.com (of course) stands out in my mind as one on the list. A yahoo search might help... The pricing was very reasonable. I shopped around my town and no one had a clue how to develop them on "photo" paper. They said they could only "print" then using an inkjet printer for about $12 !!! FO I said.

I suspect you would just fill out a form online and e-mail the image for them to process.

well, if you GO to those sites, they tell you 😛

They are 50 cents a shot i do believe, 8x10's are $2.. 5x7 are 1.50 i think.... + s/h.

My s10 shots were excellent from shutterfly. haven't tried ofoto.. as i unfortunately and regretfully returned my camera. up to 8x10 i tried.

50 cents may seem expensive, but put it this way, you get to pick out what photo's you want printed.. and not waste "film" so to speak. But like most ppl who have digitals, i didn't really have any reason to print them out.. cept to give to friends who wanted hard copies... and the fact i was using a promo so it was all free 🙂
