I got a Samsung w/ both parallel and USB. The ML-1740 and I wonder if I can connect both cables, one to each comp and print from either one. Will it auto detect which comp is printing or I can only use one type of connection? I don't know since I don't have a parallel cable here to try so just want to know before I'm buying one :)

I believe that in order to properly manage diverse printing commands and tasks, the printer should be installed as a network printer. If you have two computers, link them in a LAN. The connect the printer to the LAN and install it on both computers as a network printer. It works very well that way. It can be done. With a parallel link, I think a A-B selector switchbox would be required.

i have an HP printer with USB and parallel. the install software has a section where
it tells you to hook up your printer, tests the connection, etc.

if you can find the install disk, i suggest un-installing & re-installing using the cable
of your choice.

Don't know about Samsung, but on my HP Deskjet it works. It just shows up as two different printers and I select which one I'm printing to. The printer doesn't care because it's impossible to print to both at the same time.-
