Printer Question

Hi,

I'm looking to get a new printer that can support direct CD printing. I need one that can make a very high quality CD that looks like it was actually pressed. Can anyone reccomend a good printer for me? Thanks in advance!

There was an Epson model that was supposed to do this, but I can't remember anything else about it at the moment. I'll try to find some info for you later. 🙂

Look for the Epson Stylus Photo 900 (there's also an Epson CD-RS 2500, but it appears to be only in Europe). You'll need to get special inkjet printable CD-Rs to use with the printer, so take the cost of those into consideration also.

Hey,

I'm trying to print directly on the CD. I can get the special Inkjet CDr's for only $5 more than normal ones for a spindle of 100, so they're a lot cheaper than labels. I've been looking at the Epson 900, but I haven't been able to find much information on the quality of the printing. Also, are there any other printers that support this, or is it basically just the Epson 900?

There is a specialized (Seiko?) unit built on Epson technology. We have one of those at work, not sure whether this is a dedicated CD labelling printer or whether it can print on plain paper as well.

If your unit is the same one that I read specs for, it can take up to A4 sized paper (I'm assuming this is regular paper). The Epson 900, OTOH, is for the US market (I'm guessing yours is the European one), and prints on up to 8.5x11 inch paper.

Cool......do either of you have any idea of the quality of the print jobs? Unforunately, no stores around here will let me print a test CD......I know that the photo quality is good, but I want to see the CD quality.
