I have an HP laserjet4000 that is printing about half it's jobs jibberish. the fonts are all screwed up andjumbled together.

I can print the same file from other computers with no problem.

I'm guessing either the parallel cable is bad or the printer.
is there a way i can check? (yes i'm gonna swap out the parallel cable.)

You probably have to shut down computer, reboot, and try again. If that doesn't work, uninstall the drivers and reinstall the drivers. Have you done any upgrades right before this happened, like upgrade to XP?

this has been an ongoing problem, rebooting is not the problem, and it only seems to happen in certain cases, I program in particular always does it really bad, but if i'm print a .txt file it might print fine or just have a couple stray characters on it.

all print jobs sent from other station are garbled though.

I put in a different driver from HP last night, i'll see what happens.

damnit still doing it:|

these are 6 month old dells came with XP pro by default.
I guess I'm gonna have to call HP
