printer problem

So I have been trying to get my HP PSC 2210 all-in-one printer to work on my new computer for a while now. It prints a blank page, no matter what the document is.

I even uninstalled the drivers I downloaded off of HP's site and downloaded slightly different drivers, but no effect at all. The computer automatically detects the printer, so that is not a problem. I just recently changed the black ink cartridge but the color one might be low. Since I'm printing mainly text, it doesn't matter.

I even downloaded the firmware update, but it doesn't help.

I know this isn't a complicated problem, but after a long day, it seems that way.

Any suggestions?

Does it print the test page ok? I've never seen a printer that doesn't do it, one way or another.

A friend had this happen and we messed and messed with it, and got a different cable and it worked, then we put the old one back on it and it still worked. We just shook our heads when it did that. We only spent about 6 hours and talked to HP on the phone for a long time before going to a 24 hr store and buying the insanely overpriced cable.

You mean buy a different USB cable?

I'll see if I have one laying around, it is worth a try. Thanks.
