Printer Port Problems

My computer and my printer are not communicating. My printer won't print, and I believe it is the port. I have tried several cables and have even tried another printer. When I use the "Test" printer option, my computer and printer communicate! But nothing else prints!
 
First turn the printer off and then back on.
check to make sure the cable is properly connect.
try to print a test page. ( make sure to press the online button )
try to purge any active printings
reinstall drivers for you printer.
 
Does your system have an option in the BIOS for the configuration of the parallel port (i.e. EPP, ECP, etc.)? Try a different setting.
