A friend has recently been having problems with her printer.

Although there is paper loaded it keeps saying "Please load paper in the auto sheet feeder"

But when you click "cancel print" the printer does feed the blank piece of paper that was
loaded for printing, so its not that the auto sheet feeder doesnt work(it does) it just doesnt detect that there IS paper inserted.

Anyone see this b4?
What tells the printer that there is paper inserted? A switch? Electric eye?
I have no idea where to start looking & I dont wanna tear it apart unless I have some idea of what to look for.

Its a Lexmark 3200 printer.

Don't have that brand of printer, but I got a HP LJ 5 with extra paper tray, so comments should apply.

If you physically installed the add on properly, the contact points for the add in tray, etc. should touch the contact points inside the main body of the printer.

Also, you have to configure the printer via it's control panel or whatever it's got to tell it to look there and to tell it in which order to look at trays, etc. to take paper from, so check manual...print out configuration page of printer....look and see if printer "recognizes" it...

If the above don't work, call C/S !
