Printer is slowed down by network... What do I do to fix it?

We have been having some issues with our HP 8150 printer on our network. In the morning time the printer will work but it prints very slow. It usually takes about about 20min to print 15 pages, it will print a page and pause for a minute before printing the next page.

What is confusing me is the printer will suddenly work normally about 3 hours after turning it on in the morning. I am almost 100% sure it has something to do with our network and is probably not a printer issue alone.

We have DSL using a Linksys rouer and switch.

Anyone had an issue similar to this?

It's most likely the printer. Running out of memory, etc.

1) Where is the print queue? (do you print directly to the printer server built-in to the printer? does the printer have an internal print server?)
2) What kind of print jobs are you sending (graphically intensive?)

The printer is setup to run on a Computer Server. I cold reset the printer and reinstalled it on the main server but it does the same thing.

No images just text.

Does printing via direct IP help at all (bypassing the print server)?

My experience with networking non-laser HP printers has been not too good. Flaky to be exact....

Is the printer running an http admin page? FTP? Do you have a service contract on the printer?
