System:
Windows XP
P4 2.8GHz w/ HT
Radeon 9800 Pro
Hercules Fortissimo 7.1
Abit IC-7
1 gig Mushkin Black RAM

When I go to Control Panel -> Printers and Faxes and I click "Add a printer", I get an error that says "Operation could not be completed. The printer spool service is not running" When I go to Control Panel -> Administrative Tools and try to start the Printer Spooler service, it says "The dependency service does not exist or has been marked for deletion." I look under properties and see that Printer Spooler depends on "Remote Procedure Call (RPC)." So I look for the RPC service, start that, reboot the computer, and I get the same error when I try to start the Printer Spooler service. Any help is much appreciated.

Is RPC set to Automatic? Try starting the spooler after starting RPC without a reboot.

Go here for information about the print spooler service. This guy has done an excellent job sorting though and providing information about Windows XP services.

It sounds to me like a dependencie of the print spooler is also stopped or set to disabled. Go here also and MAKE SURE TO FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS. It has registry files for default services running on different versions of XP. After you have backed up your registry and installed the default configuration file, restart and it *SHOULD* work.

RPC is always running. You wouldn't be reading this if it wasn't.

Check this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Spooler!DependOnService

See if any third party products have been added.
