Printer driver installation in vista

Hello guys

I have removed my HP5400 printer from vista32 ultimate to install a Canon MP220 that i had working on a different pc.
problem i can finish the installation
Canon self extracting program stops while ' registering the product' and says 'error while copying files'
add the printer manually but having disk says that 'access denied' and window's automatic installation also says that failed while installing printer

I have tried with printer connected/disconnected/on/off , UAC on/off and running as admin as well. nothing works
how can i bypass the access denied msg. its a local USB printer btw
thx

Try right-clicking the .EXE and use Run As Administrator with UAC off. Even though I'm the only account on my Vista pc, I had to do that to install my Dell laser printer drivers. I could not use the disk that came with it, so I had to download the drivers from Dell's site. For some reason, doing all three of those things eventually ended up working.
