Windows 8.1. Got a new Samsung Multifuncton printer (SCX3400) several months ago and all installed and running fine.

Followed all instructions and had it set up to run on wireless. Worked great for a while. could print over network and from both MacBook Air and Win8.1 machines.

Then i got the printer not connected / printer offline / printer sleeping. messages when i tried to print.

Removed all drivers and software for printer and reinstalled and this time on a Cat5 hardwired. And this worked for a few print jobs then it stopped. with same as above.

finally thot i had it going again by doing the uninstall and then just using USB. After a couple of print jobs. nada. just sits in print que

The printer shows up in windows (printer icon has a green arrow)

have no idea now. thought for sure at least on USB is should work reliably.

when i reset printer. (power cycle) all looks ok. it will print if i do a photocopy. so i do not think it is the printer itself. I am suspecting it is some lame Win8.1 "feature"

If you go to devices and printers, does it show online?

If you tap a button on the printer, does it wake from it's sleep state and show available?

Do you notice if it stops the first time you let it sit for a long period?

Have you looked online for a better driver for the printer?

When you reinstalled the drivers did U disconnect it? U R right, if the problems persisted even via USB, it is possible you have a sick puppy.

If you're getting the same symptom from your Macbook Air, that should eliminate a Windows 8 issue.

Maybe he gave up. Samsung makes some great devices, but I don't think printers are one of them.

They do make awesome phones!

But, even if he gave up, we are involved and so wanna know the details, no?
So we can then delete the file from the SSD in our brains.

Silly girl, lol. I worked at a retailer who started selling Samsung lasers just before I left. Let's just say they were not high end, but the were priced right.

Could I believe U more than I believe you in this? NO.

Second I read he had tried the thing on USB, assuming he restored it to factor defaults, uninstalled it and its driver, unplugged it physically before hooking it up via USB, I felt the puppy was sick.

DisGUSTING.

And, while I think it's out of warranty...I would contact Samsung right off and speak up and say firmly but quietly, THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. That's not a cheap device! We are entitled to reasonable expectations when we buy such things.
