Printer died - what to replace it with?

I liked my HP DeskJet932C.
I use it for:
black and white paper
Color paper
and color photos on photo printer paper.

What is a good one to replace this with?

i'm very happy with my canon i470d. if you don't need the support for flash media slots, the i450 has the same exact specs and is about $90usd cheaper.

My gf has the 932c - AWESOME printer.. I truthfully believe that nothing can top the hp photosmart series as far as picture quality on photo paper goes, but the hp costs a lot to maintain.. Canon's are by far more affordable and over very good results.. The I850 seems to be a geek favorite.. I've seen samples and found the photo quality acceptable while I find photosmart's output nearly indistinguishable for professional prints.. BUt, again, at what cost?

Personally I'd go for the X5150 Printer/Scanner/Copier. $150

I've owned lexmarks... Cheap out the door but VERY expensive inks.. My dad is regretting his purchase of a lexmark multifunction.. Also, lexmark just isn't in the same league as hp and canon anymore.. Epson's tendency to "clot" is a whole other nitemare - stick with HP or Canon...

Sorry to say, Canon's Ink dries out so quick.

I hate those POS invidividual bull crap that they preach. Plus the ink carts are small and crap as well..

I have an Epson880 using generic cards and it lasts me real long time.

I would get a Epson C82 as a replacement. Plus that can be had for under $50 bucks..

The ink is expensive because you get a new print head every time. That's why their print quality is so high.

Epson and Canon you cannot remove the print heads to clean them. You have to run/waste ink through them to clean them.

I've had problems with HP's heads gumming up as well, not to mention the ink still being wet when the page comes out.

Lexmark has NEVER let me down.

*sigh* Canon print heads CAN be removed by the flick of a lever. The ink cartridges don't dry, the heads don't clog up as quickly as Epson's - and if they do, it's usually recoverable.
On the quality side, their latest ones are on par with Epson's best, both having 2 picoliter ink drops and high positioning accuracy (4800x1200 at Canon currently, 5660x1440 or something like that at Epson).
On the ink cost side, Canon is best at the moment, followed by the Epsons that also have single ink carts. Lexmark brings up the rear by a LARGE margin.

Because you get a new print head every time.

I didn't know you could remove Canon print heads. I was told you couldn't. 🙂

Large grey lever to the right of the assembly. Not really hard to find.

Lexmark is charging insane amounts of money for their ink. Not because they supply a head with every fresh one, but rather because they subsidize their rock bottom printer prices. Printer $39, ink $59. Oh, and no, the cartridge you get with the printer is far from full, good just for a few test pages. So that's actually $98 for an operational printer.
Canon's cartridges are full, even in their $69 base models.

if you want the best all around inkjet get the canon i850 at Sams for $120 or a refurbed one from outpost.com for $89.99. It does excellent photos and is fast. It will blow your H-pee 932c out of the water.

I know because I've had them both.

If you are even more into photos, get the i950.

HP's are ok if you don't print much or want to make HP rich buying cartridges.

Forget Lexmark and Epson too, there really is no choice. Canons are the best.

RE:"Canon you cannot remove the print heads to clean them."

Sure you can.

You have to run/waste ink through them to clean them.

No problemo
