Print Screen does not work

When I hold down Print screen to make a screenshot and try to paste to the paint program I get nothing.

I tried holding down alt+ print screen and got nothing
Tried doing shift + print screen and all it does is paste the last thing I typed.

Any idea how to fix it? I would just use a program downloader to take screenshots, but it is for the gf and she wants to use the print key.

mine worked fine. i pressed print screen, no alt or ctrl, opened paint and pasted it

Is this within a game? Some games override the Windows prints screen handling and automatically place bitmaps into the game's directory.

No need to hold the "Print Screen" button down, just give it a solid tap and the image should be copied to your clipboard.
After that, open "Paint", press "Ctrl" + "V" buttons... BINGO your pic shows up.

If you have a keyboard with shortcut keys or an "F Lock" keys at the top of the keyboard, you may need to disable the F Lock key.

I have a MS Wireless Desktop Elite Keyboard and this is the case for me. The Print Screen button is disabled if I have my "F" keys locked on. FYI.
