We have several servers in our lan, one of which is our network print server. All of the printers in our organisation are installed on this server. It is a 2k3 server, PIII 1000, 1 gig ram. The server will just reboot every couple of weeks randomly. No warning, no hanging, no errors in event log. We are thinking its hardware related, but I was just wonderng if there were any limitations as far as having too many printers installed and shared? There are about 100 printers installed on this server and shared to the clients. I have never heard anything about print que limits, so I was just curious. Our home folders are on another server. This is a DC, Global Catalog, DHCP, local DNS server also.

Our printer server had roughly 80 printers on it and ran our corporate level anti-virus which had about 680 clients attached.

My home server had issues like the one you describe. It ended up being a bad power supply.
