yup, the price is definitely nice! shipping is becoming our favorite thing to hate, so Free there is nice. good deal for those people burning at lower speeds, cause the site doesn't tell you the CDR speed ratings of these disks; those with 2~6x won't be hurt too badly if the max. write speed of the disks is like 2x or 4x. just got a TDK VeloCD 12/10/32x, so it'd just be too annoying to burn at economy speed after coughing up the dough for such a burner! nice find!

btw, this may be of encouraging significance: it lists the CD color pigment as Silver/Blue; i'm not an expert on this, but have read info that the silver medium with a blue finish is one of the higher quality options (as oposed to green, i'm afraid) in terms of readability and shelf-life. GL -- post if you find the speed ratings.:)

<<EDIT>> Ok, i'll just edit this in since i've taken up enough space already w/my inexpert opinion. HERE is the link to what is apparently the only CDR medium PRINCO makes. Under specifications it lists:

<< Supported recording speed 2X, 4X and higher speed >>

guess they are coasters to me; not gonna burn at 4x ever again!

I just ordered 200 of these for 58 dollars shipped ! Not bad.

It comes to 29 cents each!

I hope that they are in fact 680 mb and not 650. Otherwise I'll have a bone to pick with amazon, only because so many cds today are overburned to prevent copying, not because 30 mb is an issue.

Still, this is a nice deal :)

Cheers for the info Gverig.

Save yourself another $1.10 and buy two Kingston CD-R 50-packs from outpost.com. They have the 8x 80min 700mb for $13.95 each or $27.90 total. I have purchased these and they are the blue dye variety. I have also purchased the 12x they have for $14.95 which looks like a silver colored dye. The best part is not only do you save $1.10 and still get FREE shipping...but you also get it TOMORROW! Can't beat that!

for the people who have bought the kingston cd-rs before, I have a question:

What is the writing surface like? is it a clear uncoated surface (i.e., the top of the cd looks like the bottom kinda), or does it have a coated matte writing surface? i like the matte writing surface as its easier to write on with a wider variety of writing instruments and it protects the reflective layer at the same time. please post a reply and let me know, thanks.

The top coat of the kingstons are kinda like the the imations. They have an excellent anti scratch coat on the top. I would go ahead and shed out the extra few bucks to get 12x kingstons because they have the best dye. It's the golden dye, sounds like pylacathenine or some crap like that. Supposed to last 100 years or so.

k, the 12x 50pack kingstons i saw were like $17.95 shipped.
they list as cyanine dye (cyan=blue) and an "Ag alloy" is the recording surface (Ag=silver)... is high school chem. coming in handy?!? yikes! Silver/blue, at a site i was reading, is claimed by CDR manufacturers to have similar lifespans and accuracy as the gold medium. outpost also list the substrate as being polycarbonate... but fraggle don't know WTH that means. There is a lacquered on antiscratch film.

also: a 200 pack of the same $hitake is 63.95 shipped (4, 50pc. spindles)

I think the Outpost discs are of higher quality than the ones amazon are flogging...

And it would come out cheaper, if you include shipping at Amazon...and overnight shipping too!

Nice,
100 Kingston 8x 74min cd-r's.
25.90 shipped overnight for free.
Cant beat that.
:)
Thanks

Hmmm, I think I'd go for these. I have a $10 Amazon GC and the Princo discs are one of three that I have found to work in my crappy Ford in-dash CD player (others being ProDisc and CMC Magnetics "Music" sold under Memorex name - very expensive to get "Music" discs but they work in flakey players). And someone mentioned free shipping? I'll end up paying $20 for 100. Cool!

I recently purchased the 100 spindle of Princo Silver/Blue CDR from DisksDirect.com for $29 plus shipping and handling. It came out to around $36, so the Amazon price isn't really a deal other than the free shipping. I have burned these discs at 6x without any problems, but due to the limitations of my burner, I cannot confirm any higher speeds.

While I know there may be better and cheaper discs out there, one of the reasons that I purchased these discs is because Princo discs are the only one that plays in my Toshiba standalone DVD players (i.e. SD3109 and SD2200). So it's really nice to be able to play music that I've made backups of or play family VideoCDs that I've burned. Other than that, I have to admit that the discs are cheap. They do not come with any protective surface. They have a silver, unbranded top and a blue bottom.

Does anyone know if these are a dark blue? The only disks that work in my cd player seem to be verbatim. They are the darkest blue I've seen. I tried the kingston silver, compusa, maxell, and imation. I can't find good deals on verbatim and I'm gettin' low.

Violet Case? It's a POS violet CD jewel case holder they threw in with the yellow yo-yo.
I got mine today 10AM, from Outhouse.
