I would contest this that price if I were you. They seem to be $215 at other office depots.

You may try the downtown store ofr a display. I know they didn't have any in stock that were not a display but I didn't check for a display.

I called all the Las Vegas area stores and found one, the last one in Vegas. It was a display model. They held it for me and I flew down there to check it out.

After 30 minutes of testing it I was confident that it was in perfect condition with no dead pixels. I bought it. I probably would have bought it if it had several flaws at this price.

The manager threw in a 2 year replacement coverage plan at no charge, he said "what the hell, it's Halloween". I couldn't have agreed more.

Total out the door was $193.93. This represented 10% off of $215 because it was a display model, a free 2 year replacement plan, and finally an addiitional 5% off for using my star teacher discount.

This will be used with a Dell Dimension 4600 which has almost exactly the same color scheme, black and gray.

I could not be more pleased! Thanks OP!

That's gotta be wrong, otherwise it'd be rather blocky looking to say the least..

Well after playing with this monitor all night I have to say that I will be returning it. Even at this insane price I find the text quality to be unacceptably blurry.

I must mention that I discovered pin #6 in the VGA connector is broken off. I don't know if this is the source of the blurriness but it certainly seems likely and logical that it is. There is another pin that seems to be slightly bent out of position but the connector slips on my video card just fine, however pin # 6 is definitely broken off.

In any case I cannot keep a monitor that is either defective or does not perform adequately.

Best $200 I almost spent....DEPRESSING!

Gah! The redraw rate on this thing is TERRIBLE! Lots of tearing :( Taking mine back too. I guess I'll stick with my 17" Hyundai I got for $297 from Outpost some weeks back.

Thank you for the info. I have been looking some time for a LCD display with a low native resolution. In the past, I tried D@ll 1800FP and KDS 17" and was put off by the small apparent size of text (sharp but small). I realize that when you blow up 1024x768 to 18", the pixel is big but I will keep myself at the right distance from the screen.

I got one by driving last night 90min to St.Paul and got it for the $215 price plus extra year of warrantee. No haggling on 10% discount for display model was accepted. It still said $335 closeout on the label, so this was another lowering of the price.
I will try the monitor later today when I can sneak it in ;-)

I localized the shop with one in stock (on display) by putting it in the basket and then trying to checkout using the option of selecting shops in my state. In some shops, it flatly refused to check-out saying that there was a problem. Then I cleared cookies and tried next shop in the list until I got the shop which had a different message: Discontinued. It was not possible to buy online, but when I called that specific shop, they had it on display.

Gotta pass on this now... but the guy checked across two districts for me last night. There are units left in Tyler TX, El Paso TX and Plano TX (Preston & Park store). Knock yourselves out! :)

I found 3 display models at 3 different stores. $215.01 less 10% for display less $20 off $100 coupon.

$187 including tax out the door. Pretty sweet for a large flat screen for my laptop.

thanks op

My store isn't giving me the 10% because it is so cheap. And ideas? Talk to manager?

I saw this in Tallahasse, Florida. Talk to the manager to get 10% discount for display units.

Ya I don't care it has a bad refresh and is vga. I am using this for my dual head. Was gonna pick up a 15" dell refurb for $100 next time this went on sale, but this saves me trouble and is bigger. 1024 is all I want, as I just shove some text up there to read (stuff like AIM chat windows etc.)
