can someone explain viewing angle to me?

View Angle: 150° / 130° (Horizontal / Vertical)
 
it relates to you viewing the monitor from anything but straight ahead, 90 degrees.

Like on some old lcd's and laptops, you couldnt see anything on the screen unless you were looking at it dead on.

150 horizontal and 130 vertical would mean you can see the picture from almost any position you can think of.

perfect would be 180/180 i suppose

I returned my Princeton 17" LCD to Buy.com when I bought it, and it onlt had 1 dead pixel. They had no replacement so I had to wait 2 months for a refund. I would have kept it but that 1 dead pixel irked the hell out of me. How could anyone stand up to 8!!! dead pixels? Especially in a NEW monitor?
 
Princeton had the same deal last month. See link, all reviews on this monitor have been very positive execpt for "AMD K9". I too got a dead pixel and its no big deal. I forgot its even there. Very pleased with this monitor.. still waiting on the rebate.

My dead pixel was in the lower part of the screen (in the taskbar 2" to the left of center) and it still bugged me. Your eye catches the dead pixel and it's impossible to ignore, especially someone that's a little obsessive-compulsive.

I was talking about dead pixels and Princeton LCD's in general, my monitor wasn;t the same one as this deal. Mine was a VL-179 or something like that.
 
Mine came in the mail today, a day early. DVI would not work. "Input 1: No signal" is all it displayed, and would not switch to input 2 (DVI). Wasted hours of my day testing and troubleshooting. Princeton tech support has difficulty answering basic questions.

I sent it back to NewEgg as defective. Beware, NewEgg will not refund your shipping costs under any circumstances. Truly assine policy for a defective product. Opting for a replacement is not an option as the 15-day deadline on the rebate will likely be overshot. Either way, you lose money.

Probably an isolated incident, but I thought I'd share. Those lost ~$25 and hours could have been put to better use.
 
So are you willing to live with 4 dead pixels from a brand new monitor, after spending all that $$$? I just can't find that acceptable in a new monitor. Maybe used...
 
just got mine from newegg.No dead pixels BUT the menu dipslay on mine is defective! It shows colored boxes but no text or symbols just broken up colored boxes.Sent email to the manufacturer and newegg to see who will be the best to send it to for a replacement or to get it fixed.
 
Well got the display on the menu's working now.Got messing around and reset the settings to factory settings(funny never did change anything it came out of the box like this)and all is good now...

That first link to the 17" only has analog inputs. I would spend the extra $25 for DVI.

The 19" would probably be good if you want a huge display.

This 17" 714 is awesome, I keep my display at 1280x1024 now and it crystal clear. Luckily, mine didn't have any dead pixels. Battlefield Vietnam plays great and looks better than ever.
