Yeah, maybe people will try to shoot at him now instead of... not shooting at him before? Cmon, its not as if batallions are clearly marked with their regiment IDs and other forms of particular information. You know what he looks like to people out there? A giant tank. There are thousands and thousands of soldiers spread across areas. It's not like they can sneak into the place, find him, and kill him. It's not like they can do a "/who prince david" and it will tell them where he's located. He's fine...

Why would his former troop be in any more danger? AQ can read our media coverage, but not well enough to figure out that he's been moved? They get bored after the first paragraph?

Oh and those freakin English rifles are sweet looking.

Maybe. Some people posting in this thread missed it, so maybe they did too? :)

How come he didn't have to buzz his head like everyone else?

And I can't find any insignia on him? What rank is he?

Nevermind the hair! Notice how he's flanked with leet Asians! ;)

i think they are ninjas

maybe ninja wizards

Close, those are gurkhas, one of the more elite units in the British army. They are recruted only from the mountains of northern Nepal and are some of the best mountain fighters in the world.

I gotta say, if everybody was trying to keep it hush hush i don't think it was necessary for drudge to out him ^_^

This is an interesting situation. There was no need for Drudge to reveal his status and location. By doing so they are damn near certain to get people from his unit killed. So is DR now responsible for murder?

and prince harry is better than any other soldier who dies every day why...?

good for him for manning up, you'd never see chelsea clinton in the military, manly as she is.

He's not but he is "royalty" and is choosing to serve.

War should NOT be something the media should constantly be reporting on... gives too much seemingly meaningless intel to the enemies, but does way more harm then they imagine.
Without the media, there would be no Abu Ghraib, no Haditha, no wedding party massacre, etc. x1000.

Without media, our soldiers would be doing God knows what to innocent Iraqis without repercussions. The military has shown very little initiative in policing itself.

Amen to that.

There are some details though that I would hope the media would voluntarily censor. Remember when Geraldo drew out a map in the sand of where they were, where the town they were hitting was, and how they were gonna get there?

And therein is the conumdrum. You can't have a 'democratic' society without a truly free press, and at the same time you want your press corps to be responsible about what they report. Reporting that Prince Harry was on the ground is irresponsible. Showing photographs of caskets is responsible. Geraldo's map-drawing sounds irresponsible. The video of the marine shooting the guy on the floor of the mosque is responsible.

Unfortunately there's so much money in it for the networks, their reporters typically don't make this distinction. Or are overruled by a producer when they try to make such distinctions.

Two things, if anyone really cares for the truth.

1. The deployment you've heard about before was Iraq, not Afghanistan.
2. He didn't do his duty unprotectec but no one ever does, you'll always be surrounded by other troops, nothing special there, you DID NOT know shit about this before and neither did anyone else besides his commanding officer and the troops he went with.

He did what was expected of him and did it well. End of story.
