He can hit I will give him that, but his stats as a first baseman are last in the league. Maybe he should become a DH and give up playing first base.

Even though he is upset that doesn't give him the right to get physical with a teammate.

He has a better fielding pct than Ryan Howard, which actually surprises me. Howard isn't a defensive force, but he has surprising range for a guy his size.

I was watching the Phils last night. Apparently Howard is hitting almost .500 when he puts the ball in play, but about half that overall because he strikes out so much. Charlie Manuel has to teach this guy to put the bat on the ball.

I honestly can't stand this crap in MLB or anywhere for that matter.

I pitched and NOT ONCE did I ever throw at someone. That is one of the most classless things to do. If someone got a hit or scored off me or something - well the next time I would try that much harder to strike them out. I don't need to injure someone or scare them - Showing them that I can play the sport too and that I can turn to my team for support is way more awesome in my book.

In Fielders case, the guy has always been a hot head. Instead of taking out your anger on YOUR TEAM, just say, "Well get them next time" and then go out and play harder than ever. If the other team just scored, and you are supposed to be one of the best players on your team, GO OUT AND SCORE (Or play that much harder)!! What in the world is getting angry going to do??

As for Howard - well he has HUGE holes in his swing. If you watch, his weight shifts all to his back leg on his swing which produces a LONG slow swing. Not only that, he has a lot of movement throughout his body which makes it almost impossible to keep the ball centered on the sweet spot of the bat. He really needs to work on his balance and cut down on all the movement in his body. After that, his swing should naturally shorten up due to the balance being corrected.

Other than that, Howard crushes fastballs pretty much anywhere save for low and away. If he struggles with Off Speed and breaking pitches, most notably splitters and sliders from what I have seen. That just takes experience as a hitter and it will develop.

the issue i am sure stemmed from his frustration with the game, but the problem was that parra was heading back to the locker room while they were losing instead of staying in the dugout to see the rest of the game. for most clubs this is a big no-no unless you are winning
