Primitive Baptist

My granparents have invited me to attend church with them next sunday. The church is in Natchez Mississippi and it's called "Primitive Baptist" Church of all things.

I'm a professed agnostic and I don't care much for religous gatherings, but I don't have any problem with attending church services on occasion. I'm just struck by the irony of the naming of this baptist denomination.

Has anyone heard of "Primitive Baptists" or know anything about what I can expect at one of their services?

I once briefly dated a girl who was one, and remember one of the biggest difference between them and "normal" Baptists is the belief of predestination.

I've never been to a service, so I have no insight there. However, my guess is your grandparents just want to show you off. They tend to do that with their grandkids, especially in church. 🙂

I know they wouldn't understand things with alloys and compositions and things with . . . molecular structures.

So just show them your boomstick and tell them to shop smart, shop S-Mart.

I already read that and I'm not sure how much of it applies to actual church services. I do know that they sing a capella during services, and they did it during my Dad's funeral last month in Tylertown, Mississippi.

Anyone have some sort of personal experience?

Tylertown??? I was there for the Best Friends animal rescue they had for hurricane Katrina dogs and cats. That's a neat place. Not to hijack the thread, but yeah. That's a neat little place there. I really liked it.
