Primewell Tires - Ok for basic highway driving/rain?

I'm by not a sporty driver, pretty much to and from work 2 days a week (highway the entire time) with a few weekend trips here and there. I do encounter rain from time to time.

Given that my car has ~ 155k miles, I don't plan to keep it much longer so I don't need tires to last me forever, just another 20-30k miles. Then again, I don't want to risk my life either

Anyone had these before?

I'm not familiar with them, but any modern all season / summer tire should be safe for general non-snow use.

as long as there's no major warning/recall/etc... on the specific model/tire, you should be good.

Treadwear is kinda low. You MIGHT get 30k out of them if you don;t drive to hard, but it would be close.

What size tire?

They are good cheap tires. Came up with those putting big wheels on their rides.

They pass the safety deal, but like most of the bargain tires I have been pushed into they don't perform or last to my standards. *edit* I have never tried Primewells, just stating my experiences.

My wife's commuter type sedan now rides on Goodyear ComforTreds.
My toy and commuter to work (4 miles) rides on Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics.

I tried all the cheap favorites on my car. They usually work awesome the first 5000 miles, then lead to hydroplanning, noise, poor handling and need to be torn off at 9-10k.

I can push about 12-15k and the performance / quality is even.

I'm actually thinking i might just spend the extra $120 total and get some Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110

If i end up keeping the car longer than I expect, it might be worth it to have some better quality but still fairly inexpensive tires.

Sizes I can use are;
205/50R17 (Stock)
215/45R17 (What i'm using now, fits just fine)

Sorry but those are not much better in terms of lifespan. The treadwear number should be higher if lifespan of the tire is important.

I've never used either so I can;t say per tire. But even the best tire company makes cheap/bad tires and some of the lowwest rated tire companies can put out a good one every now and then. So don;t judge a tire by the maker but by its ratings from other drivers.

The General tires I linked to were rated very well and I put those on my corvette. I have about 8k on them and show little wear and run well.

I have the Exclaim UHP's on my Mazda3 right now and while they were very nice at first and lasted well, they didn't age as gracefully as my previous tires (Goodyear Eagle F1 D3 and Goodyear RSA) and are causing quite a rough ride right now. I'm at around 40k or so miles on them.

treadwear ratings are only good among the same class / speed rating of tire.

And you should add to that if the manufacturer is honest in its rating of treadwear, since it's the manufacturer that assigns the rating and is somewhat of a guess, not a guarantee. Treadwear ratings should be taken with a big grain of salt in many cases.

I had these on my Accord for 6 months, They started developing cupping after 3 months, the tires got progressively louder to a point of embarrassement when you have friends in your car. The car had a hard time keeping the straight line, that's how bad it got! Took it back to Firestone, they said it's the struts and wanted to charge $1000 for the suspension work. I never believe their words. I changed to a new set of tires 6 months ago and guess what? No more problem! Quiet as a whisper too! Buttom line, you don't save money with PrimeWell. Enough said.

If you are just a point a to b driver why are you looking at high performance summer only tires? Just get some decent all seasons and be done with it.

They are the cheapest and I live in FL, no need for anything but summer tires.

Ended up with some Sumitomo HTR Z III for a good price. Was also surprised to find out I actually put 65,000 miles on the Generals, not bad and much longer than I realized.
