For all of you not on the East Coast where it has already aired, check it out. About racially motivated office shootings at a Lockheed Martin plant in Mississippi. Pretty sad and shocking how it went down and could have easily been prevented.

Discuss

Edit: I found a text article version on ABCnews.com after having to listen to a few of you whine and be morons. I found the show itself to be easier to understand and follow due to the content provided by footage, which included video from the scene (not for the kiddies), interviews with some workers, audio, interviews with some rednecks etc...
I realize I have posted this in OT, an honest mistake.

Edit2: For those of you who are stupid enough, Primetime is the name of the show.

Clearly you didn't watch the show...

He's still right.

No, he isn't. there is no point in discussing this unless you watched the show. hopefully you will and can realize how stupid you look posting.

The story is based too much around interviews, photos of documents and video clips to really paint an accurate picture at this point. I may get around to it at a later time, or ABC may put some sort of synopsis on their site after the show is finished airing.

Did I ever attempt to tell the story? I said it was interesting and to get actual info, turn on the TV if not on East Coast.

So you're saying that you didn't pay enough attention to actually discuss the story unless someone else watched it? <sigh> yeah...the other guy sure does look foolish for asking for details...

I payed close attention, but I cannot recreate the video footage of the shooting, the audio tapes, or the photographs of investigative documents with my words. Is this so hard to understand?

Whats the point?

The guy who committed those crimes was obvioiusly a murderer, so who really cares if he was racist or not?

Is being racist now somehow worse than being a murderer?

Either way its a moot point IMO cause he is dead.

The point was that he used racial epithets at work and made threats against blacks that the company ignored, even under its zero tolerance policy, and then failed to provide this information in the police investigation. It then goes on to talk about white southerners who sympathize the man.

I know white Northerners, Westerners and Midwesterners who would sympathize with him, too.

But then, it's so very easy to stereotype the South, isn't it?

Considering the culture and history, it's very easy to stereotype the south.

Also very ignorant. I've lived all over the country and have seen racism of various types everywhere.

BTW, at the height of the Klan's power, it was most powerful in the Midwest, especially Indiana.

Most of the "White Power" Orgs have headquarters in the Pacific Northwest and Midwest.

Of all the places I've lived, the Southeast coastal states were the most integrated. The west coast and Midwest the least.

Personally, I don't think the murders were racially motivated.

The murders were motivated by people turning him in for being a racist. Thin line. But, he specifically sought out and shot the people who turned him in; not just random blacks in the plant.
(edit: and of course he was a racist)

sure I see your point. But, the question is, why did he threaten them in the first place? Are you denying that he made death threats to the blacks specifically? Did he make such threats to his supervisors when they put him in anger management classes or when they told him to go home when he was wearing the KKK hat?

The article implies that he only made such threats to blacks ONLY. Therefore, it was a racist crime. The bigger issue at hand is whether or not Lockheed should be punished for not doing anything about it. IMO, they should be punished, but not so severely because, afterall, they are the ones building our most advanced fighter planes.

Amused, he was not stereotyping anything. Since the shooting happened in Mississippi, the sympathizers from there are known as "white southerners". *gasp* what a concept! I'm not sure how the argument got twisted into a stereotype?
