Primerica is a scam.

OP, why would you join a pyramid scheme? Are you really that stupid? You keep defending your position, though, and refusing to listen to the overwhelming majority of people who know that this is a scam, so what's the use in trying to give you advice?

Go ahead, throw away your $200. I'm sure it will make someone else very happy.

your illiterate....im interested in it for the licenses that's all.

I don't understand how licenses work so I guess I can't comment on it. Could you explain? Does it matter where you get these licenses? Because I can't imagine having a pyramid scheme on your resume would be helpful.

Do you put on your resume where you got your drivers licence? no because it doesn't matter where you got it just that you got it.

That's why I asked. I didn't know you had to get a license to sell insurance, and I didn't know if it mattered where you got it from. Sometimes it does matter where you get things, like diplomas.

Is there a cheaper alternative to getting the licenses the OP mentioned?

No one has answered the actual question.

Primerica has now officially lost all cred! I was just driving through a rough part of town and I stopped at a red light. I noticed a homeless guy next to my car. I rolled down the window to give him a little spare change. He took the change and said he would clean my windows for a dollar. I told him no. He then proceeded to climb on the hood and started to spray the windshield with windex. I about had to get out of the car for him to stop. He said ok wellz let me shows you this info's and he pulled out of his shopping cart some sign up forms for primerica. Luckily for me the light turned green so I drove off. On my way out he yelled something about a "real" gold watch.

They reviewed some contracts for me and created a will($40.00) and someone showed up to represent me in a traffic court case that I couldn't make because I was on vacation..

I didn't know anything about Primerica before this thread, but I've read the thread and the links.

I see two potential issues: 1. Primerica apparently has a terrible reputation, which would most likely hinder your ability to get a job with a reputable company if their name was attached to you in any way. 2. Primerica may have figured out that people will try to use them as a cheap way to get a license (I'm assuming the $200 is much cheaper than the normal fees?), and have developed strategies to get their hooks into you (ie get your family members to buy products from your sponsor) prior to allowing you to go through with the licensure process.

So... First establish whether or not you'll have to explain to your methods of getting a license (i.e. if the primerica taint will follow you), and whether or not there are additional hoops you have to go through before you take the subsidized exam.

My thoughts? It seems likely that how you got your license should come up in the interview with the reputable companies, but you could probably lie with impunity (but who knows if there are ways for them to check). But I think the much bigger potential roadblock to your plan is that the people who run MLM quasi-scams usually are very slippery & I have a hunch that that they will be able to sort you into the "using us for licensure" category and stop contacting you. I'd assume that this would take the form of pressure to sign up family members before the licensure test. But, maybe not.

The question I have, though, is why not try to get an entry level job at a reputable insurer? As another poster stated, don't they pay for your lecensure exam fees?

In my opinion, companies will ask you how you got your licenses and it's a big red flag when you mention "Primerica."

This is exactly correct and something I forgot to tell you Iceberg. Once you do get your license through them, you're not allowed to work for a competitor for X amount of years (don't remember the number but my buddy and I discussed it) for the Securities license, life insurance I'm not sure. Double check with the Primerica rep on how many years it is for Securities, it's escaping me atm but it's in the fine print.

As long as you are cognizant of that and it doesn't bother you then why not.

I had completely forgotten the whole point of Kramerica:

Kramer showed an entrepreneurial bent with "Kramerica Industries," for which he devised plans for a pizza place where customers made their own pie ("Male Unbonding"), a bladder system for tankers that would "put an end to maritime oil spills" ("The Voice"), and a product that would put ketchup and mustard in the same bottle.

Honestly OP, if you want your securities licenses, just take a job in the field and as long as you're competent, they'll pay you to take and pass your exams. Heck, for many jobs, you'll be hired conditionally with continued employment dependent on you taking and passing the exams you need. It doesn't have to be anything great, you can be a sales assistant/gopher, work in the home office, be a CSR in a financial services call center, heck even be a receptionist in an insurance office. Then if you want to move into the production (a.k.a. sales) side of things, you'll already know about the industry. To a broker/dealer or insurance company, the costs of licensing you are neglible, and you bringing that to the table won't mean squat. You coming in with Primerica on your resume and $0 in AUM (assets under management) won't inspire confidence in a potential hiring manager that you can move merchandise.
