I'm sorry, Dave, I'm afraid you can't do that.

(Copy/paste the stats, that is. 😉) I have a BASH script I use to get the stats in a nice format. I imagine Peter (petrusbroder) does too. I think I posted mine once, someplace.

Well i gave it a shot..🙂

what seems so simple , is not.

It will not happen again.

Had to back off the HTPC box, it was getting to hot. just useing two of the 4 cores now, it seems to handle that OK

Two is better than none i guess.

Don't worry about it. It was a good try. 🙂

You might (or might not - I haven't tried it) get better results with throttling. In BOINC manager, in Advanced -> Preferences... on the Processor Usage tab, I imagine you set "On multiprocessor systems use at most 50% of the processors". Instead you can try setting that back to 100% and the option below it to something 50% or higher.

I do know that if you could underclock and undervolt that box, and run on all four cores, it would work even better. But I don't know if you're up for that, or if it's capable of that, and it's not something to fiddle with during a race.

Both the i7's are OC (4.0 on the 980x and 3.4 on the 920)
But the HTPC is not.
it's a small form factor box under the TV in a hole with poor ventilation is all.

AMD 3 gig AM2 Quad 940, Plays movies without breaking a sweat, but doing prime numbers in an hour and it overheated.

it will do what it can...🙂

Thanks

We're still just behind Ukraine, and tantalizingly close to the next two teams. Edit: As we used to say a lot around here, "more, More, MORE!!!"

Thanks to djdave404 for propping us up. 🙂 I guess you never know what you'll get out of a BlackBox. 😉

I look forward to including waffleironhead in the stats, but he hasn't had enough time to complete any WUs yet.

Whatever's in that BlackBox, it's impressive. Dave just passed Robert! 🙂

The bad news is that despite that we're still in 20th place! And waffleironhead hasn't shown up either. 🙁

Good morning those in Europe and eastern Asia!
Here are the stats as of 05.00 UTC:

049 ____ petrusbroder ____ 61497.48
072 ____ kimmyl __________ 41765.67
139 ____ BlackBox ________ 21704.99
155 ____ Robert Everly ___ 19074.09

BlackBocx = Dave is really adding results at a ferocious rate!
Welcome, waffleironhead, your results are really needed, since this is a tight race:

16 ____ The Knights Who Say Ni! _____ 214583.47
17 ____ TeAm AnandTech ______________ 159827.68
18 ____ Ukraine _____________________ 156210.19
19 ____ US_Navy _____________________ 155059.16
20 ____ BOINC.Italy _________________ 147988.60
21 ____ Gentoo Linux Users Everywhere 138780.42
22 ____ Special: Off-Topic __________ 136971.67

The TeAm has moved from 20th to 17th place, which only shows how tight this race is. Between place 17 and place 19 are only 4768 points (29 WUs) ; between place 17 and 22 only 22856 points (=138 WUs).
To place 16 are more than 50K ... which is 310 WUs more than our closest competition ...
Please continue crunching!
Please bork, asslaminate and borrow more cores to the race; also cajole, recruit and persuade more crunchers to join!

Got the HTPC back on all 4 cores this morning, Much cooler here in Northern Michigan. I had supended the HTPC from updateing yesterday as well, so when i reinabled it this morning, it added 12 WU at once.

Jumped us up two spots this morning in the team raitings from 19 to 17 again.

It should get another 8 WU done by 2 PM EST. (times up)

Glad to help, and i must admit, it's been fun to see what i could do.

18th is certainly better than 20th. Let's stay like Rytis' country of Lithuania is geographically: on top of the Ukraine. And don't forget to flush (the Update button in BOINC Manager's Projects tab) before the end!

A belated welcome to Zokudu! Better late than never! 🙂

Cool. With under 2hrs to go, it appears that we are gaining ground:

17 US Navy 238,754.94
18 TeAm AnandTech 234,150.85
19 Ukraine 223,298.35

well it seems on my i7 machines, if i shutdown the threads that will not make it in time, it improves the times for the others that were going to come up 45 sec short of making it in time.

It may give me a few more completed WU before time is up.

6 of them were 45 second to 2 min short of making it.

will do all i can anyway.

Go TeAm!

Looks like my i5 gave all she has to give. The next batch of WUs look like they will come up short by a few minutes. Ditto for my C2D 🙁

near as i can see, i will have another 16 WU before the challange ends.

shutting down the other threads that will not make it made a big differance on the multi threaded i7 machines anyway. it cut 10 min off the times, so that will add another 5 or so that would not have made it if i left it going full bore.

I had hopes of making the top 100 users overall, but i may come up short on that as well, i'm 107 now tho. but quite proud of that showing.

got all 16 done, by limiting the threads to what had a chance, or was a few min over, it spead it up by 15 min. i even had one that completed in 1:46

I'm all in guys.

boxes are all cooling down now.🙂

Go TeAm!

Just dumped the last three WUs 30 seconds ago - all is in which could get in ... 84 WUs during the past 15 minutes ... 🙂

(Probably) Final results!

Nuts! We just missed the US Navy. But they're awfully hard to beat, and I suppose they do tend to retaliate against those who beat them. :ninja:

Thanks to everyone who participated, particularly Dave, whithout whom we wouldn't have beaten the Ukraine. Nice job, especially for your first race! I look forward to seeing what you can do with a full race period. 🙂

Sorry, Chronodekar, you missed another one. 🙁 But the next race is two weeks long! Hopefully it'll be too long to miss.

If you enjoyed this race, please consider donating some money to the PrimeGrid Donation Drive 2010 Fall. Before the drive started, PrimeGrid only had two months' worth of funding! They now have about 8.5 months worth of funding, including reserve funds, but that's only half way to their goal. You can donate via PayPal; or, if you prefer a bank transfer to a bank in either the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, or Lithuania, PM Rytis.

If you don't want to donate at this time, please at least consider disabling AdBlock on the PrimeGrid site. AdBlock for Chrome recently changed such that it no longer loads ads, and thus no longer provides revenue to sites you visit with AdBlock turned on. PrimeGrid's ads aren't too irritating, IMHO, particularly if you use FlashBlock.

We did well. Among the top 20 again. If the results stand up to scrutiny we will have added 88.75 points in the challenge series and we will probably keep our place. 😀

Thank you, just part of the team is all.

I made rooky mistakes, did some of the wrong work, did not get started untill 20 hours or so after the race started, Popped a breaker, errored out some work, ETC.

now that i know a little more of what i'm doing (Still far from an good user) I hope to do a bit better next time.

Now to get the wife to stop asking me why all the computers are on in the house.....LOL

It was great fun, i enjoyed it.
Thanks

Thanks

You could ask her if she prefers that you go to the races at the race track to loose a bunch of money ... my wife prefers me staying at home and @ this race tried to recruit crunchers among her friends ...

Ugh I messed this one up big time xD

I didn't realize the timezone for the start time was different and I was in Washington DC when the race began. I vpn'ed into my desktop from DC to find the circuit blown for my office. So last night I get home to start it up and find that verizon DNS servers are down as always so I wasn't able to start crunching any WUs till late last evening. Got a few in there but I'm sorry guys if I'd been crunching the whole time we would have been all over Navy =/

I'll try to be around my PC for the next one instead of going away figuring letting it crunch alone would be more effective. Lesson learned though and I hope to join in on time for the next challenge.

Looks like we actually moved up one spot to 19th overall. 😀

The next challenge looks to be a long and rough one on the crunchers.

We need to rally the troops and get all men, women and children on deck to make a great showing next time around. :hmm:

verizon DNS servers are down as always
Have you tried Google DNS or OpenDNS? Not just for races; for any time you want the internet!

Sorry I missed the race all. We were on vacation so I shut the rigs down
I guess that's the peril of a summer race - vacations. If I had to choose, I guess I'd get more fun out of a vacation than a race too. I'm just glad I haven't had to choose!
