Apparently I should do stats before shopping, not after. Took longer than I expected to get back to this.

I'm winding down on PG. That's about 60 hours worth, maybe I can hold off geecee for the duration. ;) Oh, and geecee, we'd like to see you stop by more often. ;) Except Tuesdays, we're busy on Tuesdays. Definitely not on Tuesdays. :p

Yeah, a little late, but I'm in with my BCLK-OCed i5-6400 @ 4.455. Does this app use AVX/AVX2? Because on my CPU, it's going to run at half-speed then, due to the idiosyncrasies of BLCK OC.

According to the processor frequencies that I am seeing, AVX is not used by gcw_sieve.

Rechenkraft pulled ahead again. At least we're fairly secure in at least 9th place.

Hmm. A little naive extrapolation, assuming that almost everybody keeps sieving constantly, and neglecting the effect of pending validations:

TeAm AnandTech now: 9.3 M; in another five days: 9.3 + (9.3 - 1.6) = 17 M
BOINC@Poland: 2 * 7.9 M = 16 M
AMD Users: 2 * 7.9 M = 16 M

(I am already anxious to see in 5 days how embarrassingly off this extrapolation turns out.)

Now, AMD users are chasing us. Most likely, this is the only race where AMD users can chase us. :p (Well, maybe some GPU races.)

Another extrapolation:
This assumes that the production from day 6 to 10 equals twice the production from day 4 to 6.
Code:
                  day 4 day 6 day 10
---------------------------------------------
TeAm AnandTech 7.74 M 11.19 M 18.1 M
AMD Users 6.08 M 10.47 M 19.3 M
BOINC@Poland 6.50 M 10.32 M 18.0 M

Poland has mustered some more power to pass AMD users again. Do we have any more? Anybody? Bueller?
Tony? ;)

In engineering courses I was told not to extrapolate. Yet I can't resist.
Code:
                  day 5 day 7 day 10
---------------------------------------------
TeAm AnandTech 9.29 M 12.71 M 17.8 M
BOINC@Poland 7.94 M 12.51 M 19.4 M
AMD Users 7.93 M 12.11 M 18.4 M

I took a core that was feeding my GPU for prime finding off to run one more sieve instance.
Sorry, but no.
But if Tony won't leave WCG, I won't take one HT core off from feeding my other GPU for F@H. :triumph:

I now moved another 1C/2T from a F@H GPU client over to the race.

And I added a Core 2 Duo T7600 (Merom) @ 2.33 GHz. Unfortunately, this node is running only a 32 bit OS, which seems to degrade performance of gcw_sieve severely. Estimated runtime per task is 4 hours. :disappointed:

I will look to maximize availability of the handful of cores which do parttime duty at the office.

Adding one core arrested my fall down the rankings. But not the TeAm's, as Poland passed us. "Intel" says AMD may pass us soon too, if we don't get more cores going.

Ok, folks: I am not in this race since my CPUs are old and busy, but when I've reached my personal goal of 63M points in Folding@Home I'll return to BOINC and will take part in the future races. 24 quite slow cores may add something ... but not as much as before (when i had a maximum of 108 cores around ...).
In many races before we thought i a great race when we finished as #12 or 13 among 140 - 150 teams and that goal we will reach, I think. It is the total at the end of the Challenge series that gives the most honor!

I feel like I've been herding cats today. One Win10 computer rebooted by itself; another computer crashed last night.

But we're still ahead of AMD so far. :)

People with 32-bit CPUs might consider juggling now. Those of us with 64-bit CPUs may want to wait a few hours.

Unless someone brings on a lot of extra power right away it looks like AMD will pass us imminently.
