My bad. Been crunching, but didn't realize I had to "join" the team. Usually as I bounce around the team follows me. Amazing how far technology has come and how far it still has to go.

I've been fighting all morning trying to get my 2500K to get work. Finally manage to pull 6 WUs and now it's telling me again that no work is available. If I can't get it resolved by the end of the work day, the machine is going back on to WCG.

Try unchecking the checkboxes to use NVIDIA/ATI GPUs. I've heard good results from people who only have the CPU box checked, and that's how I've been running this race the whole time.

Yup, boxes were all unchecked and only the CPU box was checked before I started trying to get tasks this morning. It's a bit better now as I've managed to pull a few more tasks. Hopefully the feeder can keep my rig fed now.

I don't think the gpu uses that much of your cpu while crunching. I turned mine off due to the heat. It's starting to warm up over here and this will probably be my last primegrid race until the fall

It only took me 13 years to hit 1k posts. Don't want to think about how much electricity dc has used in that time or how 1 day crunching now probably equals a couple of years worth in 1999 on my cyrix and original pentium

Just gave you a few more cores from my meager supply. I suppose I could fire up the X6 when I get home tonight to give you 6 more, and just turn the max CPU usage down to 80% or back off the OC to keep the temps down. Still, 8 or so more cores does not a farm make. If I'm in the team top 5, then we are obviously missing some heavy hitters. 🙁

Put this in: c:\ProgramData\BOINC

file name: cc_config.xml

<cc_config>
<options>
<report_results_immediately>1</report_results_immediately>
</options>
</cc_config>

This will automatically empty your work unit out after computing it and not buffer them.

Make sure to check: Tools>Computing preferences>disk and memory usage>(check box) Leave applications in memory while suspended.
(This will save the further along computed files so everything doesn't start from zero again when you Exit BOINC.)
The reason I bring this up is so at the end of the race your buffers will be empty and not holding thousands of points.

Heck yeah, its crunching plus heating your home. Running about 5 million XP updates on it now, so SLOW. Needed it up anyway since I have floppies, Zip disks, and tapes I want to finally toss but check the data on.

Believe it or not, the Pentium 4 was considered relatively good for prime testing in its day. (Not that I would ever buy one.)

During the P4 era, I was a die hard AMD guy, once Nehalem came out though........ back on topic. My Athlon T-Bird is at 82% over 3h5m on the extended PPS llr, the bigger ones will probably be 12 hrs as predicted.
