Yesterday I switched from 1 task at a time to multiple. Besides the cpu fan on my new 13400F being really loud, it has helped me go up a few places. BTW I only run pg in the winter so this might be it until November.

Yeah Summer time is a bit brutal. I tend to scale back a good bit during the warm months as well. Some projects are a little less on the "heat producing" aspect of crunching than others and PG is not one of them. So when I do scale back on the amount of hardware I am running I also tend to run projects that generate a little less heat than others.

Thanks for the contribution though. 🙂

A few hours are left, and the topmost team rankings are a safe bet by now. But for thrill seekers, there are some exiting end spurts going on further down in the lower team ranks. ;-)

Possibly less final prime list for today:

@crashtech 4 primes!!!!
@emoga 2 primes!!
@biodoc 1 prime!
@StefanR5R 1 prime!

Congratulations to all the racers and prime finders!

Edit: P.S. If you want PPSE to be a part of the upcoming Tour de Primes, the administration would like you to continue crunching PPSE for another day or two.

Yeah, they need to get PPSE into the t5k list and they're short around >100k tasks last I looked 10 hours ago

PPSE update:
552042 tasks to go; target is 556,125 digits
Challenge is over; still sending out 35221 tasks per hour
That's about 16 hours until PPSE is back in T5K if things stay the way they are.
It may also be tricky getting PPSE in without kicking GFN-16 out somewhere above the 556,788 digit level.

It is remarkable how well PrimeGrid's server carried the load of this challenge.
These guys are on top of things.
You jinxed it! The whole site's down now. 🙁

I expect this to take a while. I want to run diagnostics on the database before we bring it back online

Hey, we made it! Rank 5000! Now it's time to slow down on PPSE.

If you want to continue with PG I suggest putting everything on GFN-16 instead to try to keep it in the top 5000 until February 1.

I guess I should provide some Tour de Primes updates.

The good news:
  • PPSE and GFN-16 both made it into the Tour de Primes. (We did it! 🙂)
  • The TeAm has a few members who have already found primes this month. Congratulations to:
@Skivelitis2: 1 GFN-16 prime
@emoga: 1 PPSE prime
@waffleironhead: 1 GFN-16 prime
Ken_g6 - hey, that's me! - 1 PPSE prime. :blush:

The bad news was expected. GFN-16 has fallen out of the top 5000 primes. :cry: Any new GFN-16s you find will count at PrimeGrid for a Tour de Primes badge, but will not count at t5k.org. 🫤

About the PPSE "Hilbert's Birthday" Challenge in January:
pschoefer of SETI.Germany made two nice graphs which superimpose challenge points with number of found primes:
https://www.seti-germany.de/forum/t...024-Diskussion?p=346483&viewfull=1#post346483 (03.02.2024)
Teilnehmer = individuals, Teams = you guessed it, teams
Millionen Punkte = M points, Primzahlen = prime numbers
Platz = rank
We were out-lucked by Antarctic Crunchers who found two more primes than we did. :-O
Edit: One more prime, on second look.

I'm not sure if I picked the most convenient one. IIRC you said a while ago that you moved. Is my AEDT guess on point?
