Well, I got my Blackhawk case installed. Temps on CPU have reached 73C max, GPU reached 68C max. Much better than 81-85C and 73C. Even better yet, I don't even have the sides on yet. Possibly the cooling will get better once I do that.

Ran into a snag with the USB 3 ports. Newegg's pictures show a single USB3 port on the front panel, terminated in a cable that plugs into a rear external USB3 port on the mobo. I had ordered some Syba USB3 cards with one of those external-style sockets, internally. So I intended to use that to plug into. But this case must be a newer revision, and Newegg hasn't updated their pictures, because it came with TWO USB3 ports on the front-panel, and both of them terminate into a 20-pin high-density header, that many new mobos support. Darn it.

Have to get a new mobo eventually, or get a USB3 external powered hub.

We are now (barely) ahead of the DPC and Aggie The Pew. That may change though - please crunch on, recruit new crunchers, assimilate and borgh more!


BTW: most of my nearly finished WUs and all finished WUs are uploaded and in the above stats. I have only some 8 - 10 WUs left to finish within the next 12 hours - and then we will all see how petrusbroder will drop in the list ...
I have also received some really long WUs - 70 - 110 hours! I hope that those are artefactual numbers.
I'll report later if they change (or not). 😉

Yeah, all of the Woodall LLR units I got, are going to be around 72 hours ETA.

Edit: On my main rig, they are at 55%, 50%, 46%, and 46%. On my secondary rig, they are at 28% (all four).

I know I haven't, out of the six that I've ran so far. Anyone else found anything yet? Perhaps we would have to wait until validation, before we'll find out if we got a prime or not.

I agree with somethingsketchy, but don't get cocky! 😱 Looks like Larry's gonna be our secret weapon.

Edit: These are big ranges, and only a few Woodall primes have ever been found. A prime by anyone in this race is unlikely overall.

If you say so. I've got both 3.0GHz Q9300s crunching away, with a few GPU WUs on my main rig. I suppose I could suspend those. I wanted to test out my temps with both the CPU and GPU going at the same time.

Now I wish I had upgraded to SB already. If only I had more spare change.

Edit: I enlisted the help of my 1.9Ghz T3100 dual-core Celeron laptop. It's a C2D, so it shouldn't be too bad. I don't know if any of the WUs will finish before the challenge ends though.

Edit: Main rig, 91%, 87%, 81%, 80%. Secondary rig, 64% (all four).

Don't worry, you're not the only one, who would love to upgrade to SB. I know I would take one in a heartbeat.

Oh well, IB and Bulldozer will suit my fancy.

I had some problem with my network connection. My secondary router's power brick seemingly passed away this morning while I was asleep. Wondered why I had like 8 WUs all saying "uploading".

Edit: That's fixed. Should be turning in four Woodall LLR WUs in the next four hours.

Edit: Is 65C too hot for a laptop CPU? It's blowing fairly hot air out, but temps haven't gone over 65C. Says TJmax for chip is 105C.

Edit: Turned in two of them on my main rig, other two are at 98% and 97%.

Edit: Well, what the heck. I maximized the BOINC manager, and it hung. Couldn't restore it, but could minimize it.

On a related note, anyone have a rough idea, of when we should cutoff receiving new tasks and process what is in our queue? I have six WUs in the queue, but currently processing three at a time.

I just turned off new tasks, to finish out the rest of the competition. I have on the three running tasks:

WU #1 - 5h 34m
WU #2 - 10h 31m
WU #3 - 18h 28m

As I've been averaging ~41 hours per WU, I figured I have reached the inevitable end of my competition run, while making the deadline for all of the queued work.

Thoughts?
