Prime95 Question

Alright I got one more question, I finished running 14 hours of Sandra Burn in wizard with just the CPU arithmetic and multimedia benchmarks. Had it loop thru that 999 runs...and everything came up fine. Now I don't plan on OCing my system, not anytime soon anyway...but I want to run Prime95 to double check that I have a good processor without defects in it. So my question is, on top of those 14 hours, how long should I run Prime95? 6-8 hours is what I plan on doing, how does that sound?

In my experience there's 2 "key" points when running P95.
When you set your OC and 1st run it, you will see an error within the 1st 10 mins-if at stock vcore I usually then increase it slowly and see if it'll make it beyond that point. If the vcore doesn't help it's time to knock the CPU back a little.
The other scenario is that Prime will run for a number of hours, then get an error. Depending on how long it runs, some consider this "stable", others don't. Only you can decide what level of stability is acceptablr for what you do.
As usual, more vcore=more heat so a good hs/fan is recommended.
If your using a Hyper-Threading CPU, it's also advisable to run 2 instances of P95-I usually create 2 shortcuts on my desktop then add "-A1" to the 2nd and run them both (check the readme). I've read about HT CPUS running P95 for hours when using a single P95 but crashing with 2.

To make P95 spot out problems most quickly, set the priority to 10 and use the most CPU intensive setting in the torture test dialog. You will have to enter the password for the advanced functions in order to change the priority and it is in the help file (it's 9876 in case you're lazy like me 😀). The computer will become unresponsive but if you let it be, usually any problems that can arise will do so in under 2 hours, more often within 30 minutes. No need to run it overnight really 🙂
