Prime95 OCing Errors

I just overclocked my Alienware (specs in sig link) from 2.083Ghz to 2.205Ghz. After runing Prime95 for about 30-40 minutes, it came up with an error, something about dividing or something. Everything is stock from Alienware, so i'm guessing my overclock is causing the problem, i don't see why. The usual settings are 166x12.5, but i changed them to 200x11. Please help!
 
Are there any intermediate settings between 166 and 200? If so, give them a try. e.g. 175x12.5 or whatever.
 
Well, you can't just change your FSB and multipliers to whatever and expect not to get stability errors. Changing these values will require more voltage from your ram and cpu. You'll need to up them in increments until you can find stable voltages that don't cause Prime95 to error.
 
So chances are, this was a problem cause by my vcore settings? So i should just up the voltages on my processor slowly until it is stable again?

If this is the case, i probably need to get a motherboard monitor to see if my cpu stays in safe heat ranges, right?

Yeah you can try that, or try backing down on the FSB speed a little. When I'm overclocking I do it like this:
1) Increase FSB
2) Run stability test
3)a. If stable, go to step 1
3)b. If unstable, increase Vcore and go to step 2

All the while monitoring temperatures and whatnot.
 
Ok i increased the vCore to ~1.7v. Then i ran Prime95 again, this time it failed in less time. An error in 11 minutes! What is going wrong? This is just a small overclock on an able processor!

What about your RAM settings? You may need to increase your vDimm. Check out the guide at the top of this forum, it will probably be a lot more helpful than I can be. Just out of curiousity, have you tried a lower FSB setting with a higher multiplier to reach 2.2 GHz?
