Nothing I needed on Prime Day(s), and none of the sales were that great; you can get as good or better deals throughout the year if you just pay attention. Usually the best deals are reloading your gift card balance and getting $10 in promotional credit, so I did that.

But I did buy some new knives from a non-Amazon company, which had a 15% off "Prime Day" coupon, so that was cool. I did end up buying a ceramic sharpening rod from Amazon, but only because it was out of stock on the knife company's site.

that is just amazon.ca. I shop on .com as well.
It is super convenient and I get my stuff fast as well. Prices are decent and returns are easy. Not much to dislike.

Looks like 20 orders placed in the last 6 months for me. I realized that one the reasons that number is so high for me is because people like to give out small amazon.com gift cards as rewards for filling out surveys or whatnot. When you already have the first $10 of your order paid for, it doesn't seem worthwhile to price shop other retailers.

Note to Newegg, Walmart, and Target... time to improve your gift card offerings :)

Now that's dumb. I'm sure Amazon does use the USPS, but I have to think most of their deliveries are in house now, with UPS/Fedex as backup.
Quite a few of my Amazon packages come via USPS still. Which I like because I don't have to be home, USPS has a key to my building. And of course I get a lot from Amazon's in house delivery. UPS and FedEx are rarely used anymore around here at least. I had the same thinking the poster you quoted. I didn't really need anything but didn't bother to look either as something would have tempted me. I'd rather they deliver ballots instead.

Now I didn't look either... because I don't have Prime and yeah the deals usually aren't that great.

Will be interesting if Black Friday still happens and/or if people will stand outside for the new consoles/iPhone 12.

I was looking for some bookshelf powered speakers. Prime sucked in that I had to wait for member only flash sales to get a good price. Doubt I'll ever do that again.

I didn't even look on Prime day(s), cause I didn't need anything.

The free shipping on what I do need/want, plus the availiability of products, combined with Prime Video makes it well worth the $, especially since I get it at a discount.

I got $75 off on a mesh system.

That being said, I'm thinking of not renewing Prime after this year. rofl, $120/yr.

I didn’t even bother looking on Prime Days. I don’t need Amazon garage sale items.

and I’ve never paid for Prime. Always piggybacked off of others. I’m currently grandfathered in under my sister’s Prime. Before that I was under my cousins Prime. But I think Amazon got rid of piggybacking now so unless you’re grandfathered in under the old rules, you can’t add and share separate family/friends.

Ya know, in 67 deliveries in the last 6 months, only 2 were by someone other than USPS. Just my experience...and is just as valid as yours, probably more so as Amazon's in-house delivery capability is woefully miniscule in relation to the country.

Some times I get multiple deliveries a day from different amazon warehouses plus postal service xd

The thing is that I just don't need anything anymore really.

My PC setup is legit and just fine. No reason to want a new headset, mouse, or keyboard... My TVs in the house function fine, no need for the latest super-dooper ultra quality ones...

Part of that comes from just having money in general - but the best I can think is the old saying "I can buy anything I want because I don't buy everything I want".

I just don't feel a need or desire to buy much... other than delicious barrel aged beers.

What do you tell family who want to know what to do for Christmas? I don't make a lot of money, but I'm very good with what I have, so if there's anything I really do want (on the level of Christmas gift, anyway), I just get it.

I actually don't expect tobacco cause the stuff I get isn't readily available, but whisky is the perfect gift. As long as it isn't bottom shelf in a plastic bottle, I'll probably like it well enough. It might be an old favorite, something I've never had, or just an "average" whisky to my tastes. It'll get used and be appreciated.

Honestly with our kid we got so many side gifts from other people we never really had to buy too much for our kid. We could just stow away some of the gifts and just give them to them later lol.

We also have a general guideline of wanting to stay within a certain dollar amount for any gifts. I also fucking hate trying to figure out "What does your aunt want this year?" and will probably just lean more and more towards gift cards.

In general we've worked with most of our relatives to come to simple agreements of not getting eachother gifts (and only getting them for the nieces/nephews) because both sides generally hate playing the game of trying to figure out what eachother wants. It's kinda similar with the wife - we don't get eachother gifts for our anniversary - instead we usually take a trip somewhere. We also don't get eachother crap for mothers/fathers day - we just generally spoil the other one for that day (breakfast in bed, etc..).

For our kids though - I accept that I'll have to buy some expensive gifts at some point. I've been eying the new Playstation and am considering getting into gaming competitions with my 4 year old :p

Gifts is also truly a capitalist load-o-shit that everyone fell for under the guise of "It's the correct/nice/appropriate thing to do".
Birthday? Get them a gift!
Christmas? Get them a gift!
Mothers day? Get them a gift!
Easter? Get them a gift!
Valentines day? Get them a gift!
Anniversary? Get them a gift!
Getting married? Make sure it's a fat diamond based on your income!

I bought one item that was in my cart for months that dropped 20% or $5. Bought on Amazon as it's a item only available online.
