Prime 95

HELP I got my overclock to 2.4 Ghz Northwood P4 when I run Prime95, after a minute it comes up with
Fatal ERRor: rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4
Hardware failure detected,

By the sound of things is my overclock unstable ?

Looks like it. I usually run it a full loop (1024K-1024K for around 7-8 hours on my system) to really call my system stable.

Sorry to ask , what is Prime95 (I guess stability test software or sth)?? Where can I get it ??Any links???

That is a common error to state the cpu in all respects "misfired"...try upping the voltage and see if that helps...what were the temps like???

yep it seems to work a little now, i increased the voltage to 1.8v. and it got to test 5 and then complained like a bitch. now would it be safe to increase the voltage a bit more.

temp full load = 58 oC

Ok I got my 1.8a up to 2.4 and have all my pci and agp dividers and memory dividers set so that everything is running in spec...set the voltage high enough that prime95 runs 24hrs without any errors...however when I set 3dmark2k1se to loop, after I come back after a few hours i have a blue screen on nv4_disp.dll....what does this indicate?

Most likely a video card driver issue...

Strange because i'm using nvidia reference drivers...perhaps I need to reinstall winxp clean since this is a "repaired" winxp installation.

Try experimenting with different RAM memory timings. I also got this type of error. Upping my vCore resolved the issue. Also, I might have changed my memory timings and FSB settings around a bit, now that I think about it. You'll probably have to experiment. You might have to throttle back a litte bit. I wouldn't go past 1.8v for vCore if I were you. I doubt a few extra MHz is worth frying your processor.
